fix(mobile): restore channel icons and align chat colors with desktop (#8478)
## Summary - Restores `#` and lock icons for public and private channels on Home, with matching loading placeholders. - Updates the dark-mode navigation colors to the desktop design-system tokens (read and unread text, section headings). - Replaces the chat color picker with the seven desktop accents (Gray, Chartreuse, Flame, Magenta, Iris, Cobalt, Jade). Saved legacy colors map to the closest one. - Uses white text in your own bubbles, and black where white falls below 4.5:1 (Chartreuse, dark-mode Gray). Links (underlined), quotes, tables and code use the same text color. - Insets code blocks in bubbles evenly, with corners concentric to the bubble and even inner padding. - The swipe-to-reply indicator uses the chosen chat color. ## Testing - `flutter analyze` and `dart format` are clean. The full mobile suite passes (3,705 tests). - Installed and checked on a Pixel 10 and an iPhone Air against a real community. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) --------- Signed-off-by: kenny lopez <klopez4212@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Terp <5856f6900e8e0a4e0ea1f4f8d2ee33e4753d2119bc122f94ecafc660b46c0511@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Queue <874bf2d815c2c4b459b90438c669c57f2702f3a76bb6e16fa97184259aac3e9e@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(mobile): stop Settings rows blinking while Settings opens (#8463)
## Summary On iOS, opening Settings made the Status, Profile and Notifications cards disappear for most of the slide-up. They came back when the transition finished. Closing Settings did the same thing. **Cause:** Flutter's iOS compositor (`flow/view_slicer.cc`) puts Flutter content that's painted after a platform view and overlaps no native view into the background canvas. During the transition, Home's native nav bar and glass tab bar are still on screen under the full-screen Settings page, so the overlay created for Home's tab bar already covers the whole background. Everything painted after the native presence pill, outside a native view's rect, was hidden behind it. "Send identity to desktop" stayed visible only because it overlaps Home's tab bar. **Fix:** `IosPresenceMenu` mounts its native view only after its route settles (animation completed, nothing covering it). During route transitions, and while the native view is being created, it draws a matching Flutter stand-in: same capsule, colors, SF Pro Text at the same size and weight. ### Related issue N/A, none found. Reported by Wes from a screen recording. ### Testing - Reproduced in an uncommitted harness on an iOS 27 simulator: Home with native nav bar and glass tabs, then `BottomUpPageRoute`, then a Settings-shaped page using the real `IosPresenceMenu`. The cards blank out on every open and close. - A/B in the same harness: the blink goes away if any one of the three is removed (native pill, Home nav bar, Home glass tabs). - With this change, the open and close cycles in the harness show no blank frames. At rest the native pill is mounted again. Its pixels are identical to before, and the stand-in matches it within about 1px of text rasterization. - `settings_overlay_test.dart` now checks that the native pill isn't mounted mid-transition, and that exactly one native view is created after settling. The new assertion fails without the fix. - Pre-push mobile checks passed: analyze, format, full mobile test suite. **Human test:** on iOS, open and close Settings from Home a few times. Every card should stay visible throughout, and the "Online" pill should open the native availability menu once Settings has settled. 🤖 Generated with [Claude Code](https://claude.com/claude-code) --------- Signed-off-by: Wes <wesbillman@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Carl <32a2e2c9d428ee08902cab75d956da2c1d235a22d4766b0dd4138bf6e2e5db1d@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

fix(mobile): reset community notification preferences (#8455)
Community notification choices now use `pushNotificationsEnabledV2`, defaulting ON when absent. This gives every installed community a fresh enabled preference, including communities previously disabled. Subsequent explicit OFF choices persist per community through reloads and reconnects. Previous values are deliberately discarded, not migrated or preserved. There is no migration or compatibility read. Enabled communities enter the existing APNs enrollment and active relay lease publication path when connected to a push-capable relay. iOS still controls notification display authorization. Notification eligibility and lease addressing are unchanged. Related work: [#8425](https://github.com/block/buzz/pull/8425). ### Validation - Extended the settings integration test to load a saved community with the previous preference OFF and no new preference and verify native enrollment plus decrypted active lease publication, then OFF across reconnect and ON again. - The focused model test proves both previous values are ignored and new-key OFF wins even when the previous key says ON. A temporary compatibility-fallback mutation failed this test as expected; the implementation was restored unchanged. - Added storage coverage for independent community choices across reloads; updated existing model round-trip coverage for the new key. - Mobile dependency setup, formatting, analysis, and the full mobile suite passed, including gateway-unconfigured coverage. - Agent review found no blockers. Enrollment coverage uses the real Flutter bootstrap, storage, signing, and lease construction with mocked native and relay boundaries; no physical-device or live APNs delivery test was run. The fresh enabled preference is an intentional product exception to the general zero-notification default in VISION.md. Subsequent user choices and existing eligibility filters remain authoritative. <!-- buzz-review-completed --> --------- Signed-off-by: Tom Brow <tomb@block.xyz> |

Bring synced Solo chats and projects to mobile (#8337)
## Summary Bring desktop Solo chats and project organization to mobile, with synced collapsible sections, shared unread highlights and tab badges, agent selection, shared search, native iOS creation sheets, and inline typing bubbles that transition into replies. Resolve Solo placement for every chat entry route, retain encrypted organization snapshots for offline reading, and let users resume or discard unfinished chat and project setup without deleting existing messages. ### Related issue Related: #6565; expandable agent transcripts remain separate work. ### Testing - Fresh Solo read state seeds each active chat from its captured initial last-message timestamp before exposing row/section/tab unread state. Baselines survive intervening channel updates and reset across identity/community boundaries while surviving read-state readiness changes. Regressions cover multiple chats, events before read-state readiness and during/after seeding, and identity changes; removing either the seed or the display gate fails them. - Chat completion reconciles a retained Solo-save journal even when placement is already confirmed. False/throwing cleanup regressions ensure the outer intent remains until reconciliation and only one placement is published. Typing terminal-close loops remain bounded; the retry budget resets after an uninterrupted eight-second health interval or transport reconnect. - Typing retry budgets reset after sustained recovery; invalid Solo updates retain cached rows with a retry warning that survives failed refreshes. Project names use the editors’ 120-grapheme limit, including emoji and combining characters. Regression coverage exercises repeated recovery, invalid live/refresh heads, and character-limit boundaries. - Rebased onto current main, preserving the newer Search controls, Huddle timeline filtering, and message-media layout. - Failed project journal writes reload storage before claiming recovery and reopen the entered name for retry. Typing subscription rejections are caught; terminal closures clear stale indicators and retry with a bounded backoff, canceled on disposal. Regression tests cover both false/throwing storage writes and initial/late subscription rejection. - Explicit ordinary destinations skip optional Solo lookup waits. Generic destinations perform one bounded lookup in the destination (search no longer duplicates it); an unavailable classification falls back to ordinary sending per the product owner's explicit choice. Positively identified Solo destinations use Solo providers. - Terminal Solo subscription closure preserves cached rows and exposes live-update Retry. Page coverage verifies warning visibility, usable rows during recovery, and a subsequent terminal close. Removing the warning or the immediate ordinary-route guard fails its regression. - Generic channel entries share an ordinary default when Solo classification is unavailable, per the requested product behavior. Known Solo placement takes precedence; callers can explicitly require unresolved placement to remain blocked. Bounded initial lookup preserves known Solo deep-link routing. - Dirty newest snapshots and offline-save warnings survive transport reconnects; Retry persists that same event even if the relay returns an older head. Community changes replace the service, and agent-directory reconnect refresh remains intact. - Pending-save discard reloads failed removals. Repeated reconnect testing confirms typing subscriptions are released on provider rebuild and disposal; removing the existing cleanup fails the regression. - Ordinary Home/create routes explicitly preserve private-channel sending during Solo failures; identified Solo sends use the Solo sender and explicit unresolved routes remain fail-closed. Solo unread replies beyond the initial 200-event page are loaded through the oldest-unread boundary. - Chat/project/agent cleanup reloads failed removals, retains same-process recovery, and protects replaced records. False/throw regressions verify retries do not duplicate creation or membership. Route, unread, and cleanup guard-removal mutations each fail their regression. - Ordinary channels, DMs, and forums remain sendable when optional Solo sync fails; explicit unresolved placement stays blocked. Controlled cache races retain the newest verified snapshot, keep usable chats visible, and retry offline persistence without stale writes. Both protection-removal regressions fail as expected. - Confirmed journal cleanup checks false/throwing removal and exact-record identity. Interrupted agent choices are visible immediately, identify the saved agent, and cover Resume/Later/Discard with accessible name/key-fallback controls. - Notification deep links preserve the contiguous history cursor; same-second messages infer the newest agent consistently. Failed offline-cache writes surface Retry, with false/throwing storage failures and offline restart covered. - Composite history cursors cover 350 same-second events plus older history; removing the ID cursor makes the regression fail. Agent changes now journal before granting access, with restart/failure and Resume/Later/Discard widget coverage. Signed malformed profiles remain isolated. - Native iOS avatar tests passed on the simulator: visible-row loading, three-request concurrency, streamed byte limits, response validation, downsampling/pixel limits, cancellation, and visible avatar updates. - Solo and Home share observed-event/read-marker logic. Widget coverage verifies unread rows, collapsed-section indicators, the tab badge before first Solo visit, message/thread reads, forced unread, and filtering archived/nonmember/unplaced chats. - Chat intent is saved before ownership and organization preflight; tests cover interrupted ownership lookup and a disconnect while the native creation form is open. - Mobile analysis, formatting, file-size checks, and full mobile tests passed at `1d4c41354`. - Project creation persists its encrypted name/UUID before connectivity checks or relay reads. Restart tests cover Resume/Later/Discard, scope isolation, stale-intent rejection, and lost acknowledgements. Removing the pre-network save makes all four production-flow regressions fail. - Regression coverage includes notification/Activity routing, inline replies, unknown-placement send protection, restart recovery/discard, and encrypted offline cache isolation/refresh. - Earlier feature build exercised on a physical iPhone with existing account/community data; review follow-ups have not been reinstalled on the device. UIKit agent-row accessibility checks passed on an iOS simulator. - Earlier cross-platform `just ci` stopped on the existing `buzz-acp` test `signals_cancel_startup_turn_and_pending_stdin_without_hanging` (process exit-code assertion); no Rust production changes are included in this PR. ### Remaining review limitation Agent discovery is bounded to 10 pages / 1,000 profiles with automatic retries disabled. Owner-scoped discovery remains open because the current relay ignores `#auth` filters; supporting that query requires a relay change. ### Snapshots Sample data, shared Flutter/Android surface. Align mobile appearance and channels with desktop (#8358)
Aligns mobile with desktop's neutral palette and six chat colors. Appearance now offers Light, Dark, and System instead of themes, while preserving community preferences and the single Home and Chat preview pair. Chat colors survive local preference reloads without historical-index remapping, and the Chat preview shows the draft outgoing bubble color. Channel and section icons are removed, section chevrons sit beside names, and section dividers use 7% opacity. DM avatars remain. Validation: `just mobile-check`, 35 focused tests, and the full mobile suite passed (3,351 tests; 4 skipped). Updated light/dark previews were rendered and visually checked. The earlier release was verified on iPhone; this follow-up has not been reinstalled. The earlier repository-wide lint passed, but full `just ci` was stopped for low disk space. Hosted CI is running for the new head. **Intentional design parity:** Section labels and chevrons retain desktop’s `--text-unavailable` colors: light `#959595`, dark `#595959`. Verified against `block/buzz-app` main at `0201b54c496120a44e020834663dc534cae9a79f`. These colors do not meet 4.5:1 text contrast on the mobile section surfaces; the product decision for this PR is to preserve desktop parity and leave them unchanged. Kenneth explicitly accepts this known contrast tradeoff for this PR/release and requests that reviewers treat it as a scoped product exception rather than a blocker. This does not claim WCAG compliance or change the repository-wide accessibility target. Any future contrast adjustment should be coordinated across desktop and mobile. ### Snapshots Channel list: physical iPhone. fix(mobile): keep notification toggle usable and match row height (#8223)
Turning Notifications off invalidated the relay capability provider because it watched the entire saved community. If the redundant NIP-11 request stalled or failed, the switch became disabled and reopening Settings did not recover it. Discovery now follows community identity and connection status, so preference and lease bookkeeping retain the validated capability while a real reconnect still refreshes it. Each opt-in also starts a fresh active lease immediately instead of waiting for the old renewal timer. Failed attempts retain their gate until the retry delay expires, preventing rebuilds from bypassing backoff. Notifications now has the same single-line height as Set status, with the full switch hit area and one combined accessibility label. This follows [#8201](https://github.com/block/buzz/pull/8201); no duplicate open PR was found. ### Validation Added iOS widget regressions mount the production settings page and push bootstrap with production storage logic, signing, and lease publication. They verify a higher-generation active replacement after off/on with accepted, failed, and pending cleanup, plus closing/reopening Settings, switch and row taps, 2× text, accessibility, and rediscovery on reconnect. A gate test verifies that rebuilds cannot bypass failure backoff. Both UI failures and the missing active replacement were reproduced before their fixes. Mobile dependency installation, formatting/static checks, 3,234 configured tests, and three unconfigured-build tests passed. Captures use the real Flutter settings widget at 375pt width, with synthetic data and mocked native/network boundaries. Native navigation is outside the capture. No device installation or deployment was performed. After merge, validate the candidate on iOS: compare Notifications with Set status, toggle off then immediately on, close/reopen Settings while off and turn on, and repeat after reconnect. Confirm delivery resumes after opt-in. ### Layout Flutter widget captures with synthetic data; native navigation is excluded. | Before | After | | --- | --- | | | | --------- Signed-off-by: Tom Brow <tomb@block.xyz> |

fix(mobile): simplify notification settings (#8199)
Keep notification settings as a separate card with a single “Notifications” toggle. Remove the section heading, bell, all subtitles (including permission/capability and pending opt-out messages), and the iOS settings button. Toggle callbacks, capability visibility, persisted opt-in/out, and relay synchronization are unchanged. The disable failure is being investigated separately. This intentionally removes the pending warning rather than claiming to fix synchronization. Tom explicitly requested removal of the immediate opt-out synchronization warning and all other status text; this is an intentional exception to the pending-feedback guidance in VISION_MOBILE.md. [Codex’s finding is answered against that agreed scope](https://github.com/block/buzz/pull/8199#discussion_r4225426842). No new tests. Delete tests for the removed permission/settings UI and remove obsolete display assertions from existing recovery tests while preserving their opt-out synchronization coverage. Closest related issue: [#7826](https://github.com/block/buzz/issues/7826). No duplicate cleanup PR found. ### Validation Mobile formatting/static analysis passed. The full existing mobile suite passed (3,216 tests; 4 skipped), plus the three unconfigured-build tests and gateway recipe checks. Existing opt-out recovery tests exercised the switch, persisted tombstone, snapshot synchronization, and successful relay retry. Before/after renders use the existing Flutter widget fixture with synthetic data and mocked native navigation. No simulator or TestFlight run was performed. After merge, validate the settings row and on/off flow in the next iOS candidate; remote disable failure remains a separate investigation. GitHub CI also passed the mobile tests, unconfigured-build tests, and gateway recipe checks. The [security review](https://github.com/block/buzz/actions/runs/37863885299) completed successfully. The [Android build](https://github.com/block/buzz/actions/runs/37863554077/job/113605025305) passed. The iOS simulator build, native accessibility checks, and unsigned iOS release build passed. [All required CI checks](https://github.com/block/buzz/actions/runs/37863554077) are green. ### Before and after Headless Flutter widget fixture, with synthetic data and mocked native navigation. | Before | After | | --- | --- | | | | Signed-off-by: Tom Brow <tomb@block.xyz> |

Preview Tabler icons in the mobile app (#8109)
## Summary Preview buzz-app's Tabler icon style in the mobile app, replacing app-drawn Lucide glyphs across channels, messages, activity, search, and settings. A shared `BuzzIcons` mapping uses the bundled Tabler 3.46.0 outline font, matching buzz-app's version, with its MIT license and source documented. Native UIKit controls retain SF Symbols. The former 300/500 navigation glyphs use Tabler's standard outline; existing selection colors and labels remain. ### Related issue No matching Tabler mobile migration issue or PR found. Related native iOS controls: #8055. ### Testing - Pre-push mobile analysis, formatting, file-size checks, and the full mobile test suite passed. - 194 focused widget tests passed, including channels, home, search, settings, and message content. - Light and dark community-settings renders inspected. - Signed iPhone Release build succeeded; installed and launched as Buzz Tabler on a physical iPhone. - Full `just ci` attempted; stopped during Rust clippy compilation because the Mac ran low on disk space. Full repository validation is not claimed. Signed-off-by: kenny lopez <klopez4212@gmail.com> |

Use native iOS navigation bars with large titles and avatars (#8052)
## Summary Use UIKit navigation bars across iOS pages, with large titles that collapse into the toolbar on scroll and a light native blur. Home uses the active community name as its title and shows community and profile avatars with centered emoji and stable loading, without flashing back to icons. Channel headers retain the member count, tap-to-settings title, and Huddle action. Their ultra-thin native material has a soft lower edge and stays visible at the timeline bottom. The hidden title-layout scroll view has its automatic edge effects disabled so it cannot add a second backdrop. | Expanded Home | Scrolled Home | Settings | | --- | --- | --- | | <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/block/buzz/47a77d3ff1d30fc74f7488c1a4427e41bbb85c4e/pr-8052--home.png" alt="home" width="240"> | <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/block/buzz/47a77d3ff1d30fc74f7488c1a4427e41bbb85c4e/pr-8052--scrolled.png" alt="scrolled" width="240"> | <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/block/buzz/47a77d3ff1d30fc74f7488c1a4427e41bbb85c4e/pr-8052--settings.png" alt="settings" width="240"> | Channel title, member count, and Huddle control: <img src="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/block/buzz/47a77d3ff1d30fc74f7488c1a4427e41bbb85c4e/pr-8052--channel.png" alt="Channel navigation" width="280"> ### Related issue No matching open issue found. ### Testing - Added causal regressions for Profile/Edit Photo native titles, metrics-only collapse changes, and native-header suppression throughout channel/thread reaction and action backdrops. feat(mobile): organize community and profile settings (#8056)
## Summary Move Invite, Appearance, and Remove community into a **Community settings** section in the community-avatar sheet, above the existing switcher. Keep the sheet untitled and use circle-minus for removal. Personal Settings groups **Set status** and **Copy public key (npub)** above an untitled card containing **Display name**, **Profile description**, and **Edit photo**. Remove the leading icons from status, public key, and Send identity to desktop; keep the latter in its own untitled card. Remove the avatar status badge and top Edit action, and rename the Theme page to **Appearance**. Opening the presence chip triggers selection haptics; copying plays native iOS success feedback and confirms with “Public key (npub) copied.” ### Testing - Mobile formatting, analysis, and file-size checks passed. - 111 affected widget tests passed; all 48 settings tests passed again after the final labels and icon changes. - Final release build installed and launched on a physical iPhone in the separate Buzz Community preview, retaining its existing test account. - Full repository `just ci` was blocked by local disk exhaustion during Rust compilation. The full mobile suite passed (2,609 passed, four skipped), plus three push-unconfigured tests. The presence and copy feedback passed focused widget tests and analysis, including native iOS success-channel coverage. ### Snapshots Light and dark Flutter widget renders with fixture data. fix(mobile): hide notification settings without relay push capability (#8025)
Hide the iOS Notifications settings section for communities that have not enabled push unless their relay advertises valid push support. A build with a configured gateway previously showed the switch even when the relay could not support push. Communities where push is already enabled retain an off switch and iOS Settings recovery during discovery or when push support is unavailable. The section explains that support is unavailable instead of claiming notifications will arrive. Capability discovery keeps its existing refresh behavior. Returning after at least five seconds in the background reconnects the session and fetches capability again. Tom explicitly chose this behavior without new retries, polling, or refresh triggers. Companion client change for squareup/buzz-releases#104. Related: #7826 (broader notification availability diagnostics). ### Validation Settings widget tests cover hidden first-time opt-in during loading, absent capability, and discovery errors. Recovery tests exercise the real off switch for already-enabled communities in all three states, verifying persisted opt-out, the native snapshot writer, a durable pending relay tombstone after failure, and the iOS Settings link. They also verify that pending recovery stays visible after a relay failure and disappears only after opt-out confirmation. Tests without a gateway definition verify hidden first-time settings and disabled native registration. Mobile analysis and the mobile test suite passed. --------- Signed-off-by: Tom Brow <tomb@block.xyz> |

Mobile Settings now identifies the installed build as e.g. `v0.16.0 (432)` rather than just `v0.16.0`. If the platform supplies no build number, the footer keeps the existing version-only display. | Before | After | | --- | --- | | Marketing version only | Version and native build number | | | | --------- Signed-off-by: Tom Brow <tomb@block.xyz> |

fix(mobile): standardize public-key identity display on npub (#7493)
🤖 ## Summary In the mobile app, anyone who hasn't set a display name shows up as a raw 64-character hex key (e.g. `3a5d4f9c…`) — unreadable, and unrecognizable as the same identity across screens. Profile and Settings also let you copy that raw hex. Nostr public keys have a standard readable form — `npub1…`, the same encoding other Nostr apps and our desktop app already display. This PR makes every mobile identity surface render npub instead: - **Unnamed people everywhere** — message and thread authors, reactions, typing indicators, member lists, channel details, DM headers and tiles, inbox, search, forum cards, Pulse notes and reply context, mention suggestions, and invite rows — now show a compact npub label: first 8 + last 4 characters of the full npub joined by an ellipsis (`npub1abcd…wxyz`), the same truncation desktop uses. Previously these showed truncated raw hex. - **DM fallback avatars and blank names** — 1:1 DM tiles and headers key their fallback avatar to the same non-self counterpart the label names, including self-first participant order; a self-DM keeps its hex-key-derived initial. Blank or whitespace-only display names fall back to the compact npub instead of rendering empty, while nonblank authored names render verbatim (padding included). - **Profile sheet → "Copy public key"** now copies the full canonical npub — never raw hex. When the identity string isn't a valid public key, the copy tile is disabled, so a malformed key never reaches the clipboard. - **Settings → Identity (pubkey)** displays and copies the full npub; an invalid identity reads "Identity unavailable" with copy disabled. - **Invalid identities never leak truncated raw hex** into the UI anywhere — they render a neutral "Unknown identity" label. - **Unchanged on purpose:** display names and verified handles (NIP-05 — the `name@domain` badge) still render as before. Unnamed avatars keep distinct per-key initials, derived from the underlying hex key rather than the npub — otherwise every unnamed key would render the same "N" initial. Event IDs are not public keys, so they keep their hex truncation (in Pulse's "Replying to", the parent author shows npub while an event-id fallback still shows hex). The nevent share link, private keys, and internal hex storage are untouched. Inputs that accept a key (invite/member entry) accept both hex and npub and keep working in hex internally. ### Related issue N/A. Searched open issues/PRs for npub identity display on mobile — closest related: none found. Desktop's parallel npub standardization lives in the stacked desktop PRs (#7488 foundation, #7489 controls, #7495 display surfaces); this is the independent mobile slice (based directly on `main`, not on those branches). ### Testing At exact head `5a620e420a1fd57d9d8011ac26434eed32fcf765` (base: `main` `44316ff72`; 40 files, +1,345/−154): - Full mobile suite: 2,098 tests passing (`cd mobile && flutter test`); `flutter analyze` clean; `dart format --set-exit-if-changed .` clean — the same checks CI runs. - Widget/unit coverage at production seams: compact labels and hex-keyed avatar initials for DM headers/tiles, member rows, mention suggestions, and Pulse reply context; DM fallback avatars keyed to the labeled counterpart (self-first order and self-DMs); blank/whitespace display-name npub fallback with nonblank authored labels verbatim, including the Activity inbox sender and profile-sheet heading (each with its own empty/whitespace production-seam regression); full-npub copy and disabled-copy semantics in profile and settings; invalid-key suppression; and hex↔npub input round-trips. Verified via unit and widget tests — no device/simulator validation is claimed. ### Task provenance Buzz channel: `1f0e4a3d-7e01-4efe-bb16-843b357f85c9` Task: buzz://message?channel=1f0e4a3d-7e01-4efe-bb16-843b357f85c9&id=86b34eb4bd84a1472419e9af22636c011c0fe273e3c196f967d7a36996e149b6 --------- Signed-off-by: Logan Johnson <loganj@squareup.com> Co-authored-by: Larry <627498bd4bd1f281a16431e3c6cce3b5c25b6692798c78672298aefbf2f8f8b5@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

feat(mobile): require device authentication for identity export (#5116)
**Category:** new-feature **User Impact:** Mobile users must confirm with Face ID, biometrics, or their device passcode before sending their Buzz identity to Desktop. **Problem:** A signed-in phone could send its full identity, including the `nsec`, to a desktop without fresh local verification. **Solution:** Require OS device authentication before opening the identity-recovery scanner, retain that authorization only for the active pairing session and short pairing window, and require fresh authentication again if it expires before the identity payload is sent. Normal app opening, identity import, and community removal remain unchanged. ## Screencasts | Enable Face ID | Use Face ID | | --- | --- | | | | <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **Android and iOS integration** - `mobile/android/app/build.gradle.kts` declares the AppCompat dependency required by the biometric activity theme. - `mobile/android/app/src/main/kotlin/xyz/block/buzz/mobile/MainActivity.kt` uses the activity type required by the system authentication prompt. - `mobile/android/app/src/main/res/values/styles.xml` and `mobile/android/app/src/main/res/values-night/styles.xml` use the compatible launch theme. - `mobile/ios/Podfile.lock` records the native local-authentication dependency. - `mobile/ios/Runner/Info.plist` explains why Buzz requests Face ID access. **Identity policy and pairing flow** - `mobile/lib/shared/security/sensitive_action_authorizer.dart` wraps OS authentication and maps platform errors to stable app-level outcomes. - `mobile/lib/shared/community/community.dart` and `mobile/lib/shared/community/community_storage.dart` persist the sensitive-action policy. - `mobile/lib/features/invites/invite_join_provider.dart` assigns the explicit policy for invite-created communities. - `mobile/lib/features/pairing/pairing_provider.dart` gates export, binds grants to the active community/session, reauthenticates expired grants, and clears grants on every terminal path. - `mobile/lib/features/pairing/pairing_page.dart` lets users choose biometric protection while importing an identity. - `mobile/lib/features/settings/settings_page.dart` wires pairing into settings. - `mobile/lib/features/settings/settings_page/connection_section.dart` authenticates before opening export recovery and bounds the foreground-resume wait. - `mobile/pubspec.yaml` and `mobile/pubspec.lock` add and lock `local_auth`. **Coverage** - `mobile/test/shared/security/sensitive_action_authorizer_test.dart` covers native result mapping, unsupported devices, and single-flight behavior. - `mobile/test/shared/community/community_test.dart` and `mobile/test/shared/community/community_storage_test.dart` cover policy defaults and persistence. - `mobile/test/features/invites/invite_join_provider_test.dart` covers the invite policy. - `mobile/test/features/pairing/pairing_page_test.dart` covers import protection controls. - `mobile/test/features/pairing/pairing_provider_test.dart` covers export/import authorization, stale/reset/concurrent guards, malformed payload cleanup, and no-export failure paths. - `mobile/test/features/settings/connection_section_test.dart` covers the tap gate, lifecycle resume, and timeout behavior. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Pair an identity into the mobile app. 2. Open Settings and choose “Send identity to desktop.” 3. Verify Face ID, biometrics, or the device passcode is required before the recovery scanner opens. 4. Cancel device authentication and verify the scanner does not open and no identity transfer begins. 5. Authenticate, scan a Desktop recovery code, confirm the SAS, and verify the identity transfer completes. ## Validation At `be5620f5f10aa6cc16e86a4f01f102f3d9aeef9b`: - `cd mobile && ../bin/flutter analyze` — no issues - `cd mobile && ../bin/flutter test` — 1,368 tests passed - `cd mobile/android && JAVA_HOME=$(/usr/libexec/java_home -v 21) ./gradlew app:assembleDebug` — debug APK assembled successfully --------- Signed-off-by: Taylor Ho <taylorkmho@gmail.com> |

feat(identity): recover desktop identity from a signed-in phone (#4845)
**Category:** new-feature **User Impact:** People who lose a desktop identity can securely restore it from a signed-in Buzz phone without creating a replacement identity. **Problem:** A fresh or identity-lost desktop could not recover its existing full Buzz identity from an already-authorized phone. **Solution:** Add a SAS-confirmed reverse NIP-AB transfer, durable desktop import, a dedicated mobile recovery entry point, and clearer desktop recovery dialogs with tested loading, drag-and-drop, and failure states. https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/e9215c9c-80d0-462f-9161-0fa184ca2f74 <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **crates/buzz-core/src/pairing/session.rs** Adds the reverse encrypted payload and source-completion state transitions used for phone-to-desktop recovery. **desktop/src-tauri/src/commands/identity.rs** Exposes the existing guarded identity commit path for recovery imports. **desktop/src-tauri/src/commands/pairing.rs** Adds recovery-mode pairing, durable nsec import, start serialization, stale-task protection, and explicit rejection of unsupported recovery payloads. **desktop/src-tauri/src/lib.rs** Registers the recovery pairing command. **desktop/src/app/App.tsx** Refreshes the recovered identity before continuing onboarding. **desktop/src/features/onboarding/machineOnboarding.ts** Adds recovery transitions to the onboarding state machine. **desktop/src/features/onboarding/ui/BackupPasswordTimeline.tsx** Adds the visual backup-to-password-to-unlock progression. **desktop/src/features/onboarding/ui/IdentityRecoveryPairing.tsx** Implements QR generation, copy fallback, SAS confirmation, cancellation, expiry, and completion UI. **desktop/src/features/onboarding/ui/MachineOnboardingFlow.tsx** Connects private-key, phone, and backup recovery paths to the onboarding flow. **desktop/src/features/onboarding/ui/NostrKeyImportForm.tsx** Polishes recovery dialogs, backup drag-and-drop, loading stability, and security copy. **desktop/src/shared/api/tauri.ts** Keeps the existing pairing API surface focused on standard desktop-to-mobile pairing. **desktop/src/shared/api/tauriPairing.ts** Adds the recovery pairing invoke without growing the ratcheted shared API file. **desktop/src/testing/e2eBridge.ts** Mocks recovery pairing commands and lifecycle events for browser tests. **desktop/tests/e2e/identity-lost.spec.ts** Covers lost-identity entry, QR/copy recovery, SAS, cancellation, expiry, success, errors, backup import, drag-and-drop, and screenshots. **desktop/tests/e2e/onboarding.spec.ts** Verifies recovered identities continue through harness setup without replacement-key side effects. **mobile/lib/features/pairing/pairing_page.dart** Adds recovery-only scanning and explicit identity-handoff warnings. **mobile/lib/features/pairing/pairing_provider.dart** Recognizes recovery codes, returns the signed-in nsec after mutual SAS approval, and waits for desktop completion. **mobile/lib/features/settings/settings_page.dart** Accepts the recovery route builder at the app composition boundary to preserve feature isolation. **mobile/lib/features/settings/settings_page/connection_section.dart** Adds the signed-in “Send identity to desktop” settings action. **mobile/test/features/pairing/pairing_page_test.dart** Covers recovery-only validation and handoff messaging. **mobile/test/features/pairing/pairing_provider_test.dart** Covers reverse payload encryption, confirmation ordering, success, failure, timeout, and cleanup. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. feat(mobile): sync themes per community (#3767)
**Category:** new-feature **User Impact:** Mobile now keeps each community’s appearance in sync with desktop, including theme, accent, and system-mode preference. **Problem:** Appearance choices were device-local, so the same account could look different between desktop and mobile. Live sync could also stop after the relay closed a subscription. **Solution:** Store each community’s encrypted appearance preference on its relay using the shared desktop wire contract, restore it from a local identity-scoped cache, and apply replacement events live. Closed subscriptions now recover with guarded backoff and fetch the latest preference so no update is lost during the gap. <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **mobile/lib/app.dart** Connects community appearance state to the authenticated app lifecycle. **mobile/lib/features/settings/accent_picker_page.dart** Aligns mobile accent choices and selection behavior with the shared catalog. **mobile/lib/features/settings/settings_page/appearance_section.dart** Clarifies the active appearance and hides accent controls when the Buzz theme owns its neutral accent. **mobile/lib/features/settings/theme_picker_page.dart** Persists catalog theme choices through the community-scoped provider. **mobile/lib/shared/theme/accent_colors.dart** Matches desktop’s accent catalog and wire values. **mobile/lib/shared/theme/buzz_theme.dart** Keeps Buzz visually neutral without discarding the user’s stored accent for other themes. **mobile/lib/shared/theme/community_theme_preference.dart** Defines and validates the versioned desktop-compatible appearance payload. **mobile/lib/shared/theme/community_theme_provider.dart** Coordinates cache-first appearance loading with account and community changes. **mobile/lib/shared/theme/community_theme_sync.dart** Adds encrypted NIP-78 relay persistence, live replacement handling, deterministic ordering, safe seeding, and resilient subscription recovery. **mobile/lib/shared/theme/theme.dart** Exports the community appearance modules. **mobile/test/features/settings/theme_picker_page_test.dart** Covers the updated settings behavior. **mobile/test/shared/crypto/nip44_interop_test.dart** Proves Dart decrypts a desktop-produced nostr-rs NIP-44 v2 preference. **mobile/test/shared/theme/buzz_theme_test.dart** Covers Buzz’s neutral rendering and stored-accent restoration. **mobile/test/shared/theme/community_theme_preference_test.dart** Covers wire parsing, validation, migration, and future-version handling. **mobile/test/shared/theme/community_theme_sync_test.dart** Covers cache/relay lifecycle, replacement ordering, switching races, absence-only seeding, and closed-subscription recovery. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Sign into desktop and mobile with the same account and join the same community relay. 2. On desktop, choose a distinctive non-Buzz theme and accent; mobile should update without a local toggle. 3. Restart mobile and confirm it restores the same appearance. 4. Change the mobile theme and accent and confirm desktop follows. 5. Leave mobile idle or backgrounded through a relay reconnect, then change desktop again; mobile should resubscribe and catch up automatically. 6. Switch communities and confirm each community restores only its own appearance. --------- Signed-off-by: Taylor Ho <taylorkmho@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: npub1223z34hd7vtwc6qj4s7flsxkj644nlre2nthu7lrrmkumhu3xddsrx9r6w <52a228d6edf316ec6812ac3c9fc0d696ab59fc7954d77e7be31eedcddf91335b@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |
