fix(desktop): harden profile batch and thread-reply fetches against relay slowness (#7188)
Three client gaps turn transient relay failures into permanent UI degradation. Under a slow or rate-limited relay: 1. A cold channel's profile batch exhausts its single retry and leaves raw npubs + broken mention chips until the user manually kicks the channel. 2. A thread opened from a notification trusts a successful-but-empty reply read as authoritative and never retries. 3. A rate-limited `CLOSED` on a history subscription immediately rejects the caller rather than retrying after the rate-limit window. All three are addressed without changing global query defaults or the happy-path behavior. ## Changes **Fix 1 — cold profile batch resilience** (`useUsersBatchQuery`, `desktop/src/features/profile/hooks.ts`) Override `retry: 3` with exponential backoff and error-gated `refetchOnWindowFocus: (query) => query.state.status === "error"`, scoped to this query only. The global defaults (`retry: 1`, `refetchOnWindowFocus: false`) are intentional for other queries and are unchanged. After the retry budget exhausts, a window-focus event (e.g. channel-switch) recovers the query automatically — but only when it is already in an error state, preventing unnecessary refetches for successful batches. **Fix 2 — stale-empty thread reads** (`useThreadReplies.ts`, `ChannelScreen.tsx`) Add optional `expectedEventId` parameter. When a completed paged fetch does not contain the expected event, throw `ThreadExpectedEventMissingError` so React Query's built-in retry machinery handles it rather than caching an authoritative empty. `ChannelScreen` passes `threadScrollTargetId` (the notification-linked reply ID) as `expectedEventId`. When notification routing changes `expectedEventId` while the same thread root is already mounted (same query key), an explicit `invalidateQueries` in a `useEffect` triggers a fresh validation pass. The `useEffect` is declared after `useQuery` so TanStack's internal options-update effect installs the new `queryFn` closure first; the refetch therefore uses the current `expectedEventId` rather than the previous null closure. For the cold-start race (target arrives before the first page returns), the effect detects `fetchStatus === "fetching" && status === "pending"` and calls `cancelQueries().then(invalidateQueries)` so the obsolete in-flight response cannot settle as authoritative before the new target's validation closure is active. The query-fn tracks consecutive fetch attempts per target. On attempt 3, it adds the target to `exhaustedTargetsRef` before calling `loadThreadReplies`. `loadThreadReplies` sees the target in the exhausted set and returns the fetched replies directly rather than throwing — the terminal attempt always resolves to success. No re-entrant scheduling: the resolution is synchronous inside the query function itself. Deleted/moderated targets never lock the thread in a terminal error surface. **Fix 3 — CLOSED recovery for history subscriptions** (`relayClosedRecovery.ts`, `relayClientSession.ts`, `relayClientShared.ts`, `relayGateBoundary.ts`) On a rate-limited `CLOSED` the subscription previously rejected the caller immediately. Store `filter` and `timeoutMs` on `HistorySubscription`, then on rate-limited `CLOSED` re-register under a fresh `subId` and defer `sendReq` until the rate-limit window clears — matching the live-sub recovery design already present in `relayClosedRecovery.ts`. Bounded to 3 attempts; exhausted retries reject immediately so callers are never left waiting indefinitely. A new op-timeout guards the retry REQ against a non-responding relay; when the op-timeout fires it sends `CLOSE` for the rotated `subId` (matching the behavior of the original timeout path) so the relay releases the slot rather than counting it against the per-connection cap. ## Tests - `relayClosedRecovery.test.mjs`: behavioral fake-clock tests for history-sub retry, 3-attempt exhaustion, op-timeout CLOSE send + late-EOSE non-regression, rejecting-`closeSubscription` swallowed without unhandled rejection, wiring source assertion (fails if `relayClientSession.ts` drops the `closeSubscription` callback) — 18 tests - `useThreadReplies.test.mjs`: `loadThreadReplies` unit tests (throw/exhaustion-guard); behavioral hook tests via real `QueryClientProvider` + `renderHook`: exhaustion-resolves-to-data, settled null→target change retries on missing-target page and lands target data (fails if `invalidateQueries` is removed OR if `useQuery` is moved after the `useEffect`), cold-fetch cancel-then-invalidate (gated fetcher — released after rerender, stale empty discarded, replacement fetch settles with target); ChannelScreen wiring source assertion — 9 tests - `profileBatchResilience.test.mjs`: source assertions for `retry: 3`, `retryDelay`, error-gated `refetchOnWindowFocus`, and unchanged global defaults — 2 tests --------- Signed-off-by: Will Pfleger <pfleger.will@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Duncan <dcfd242e557282d7a1e2cf2e6877522682f1e5c6156dc92ca7d90eaedd3b0f95@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

fix(composer): align wrapped inline chip fragments (#7242)
**Category:** fix **User Impact:** Wrapped channel and mention chips in the chat composer now align continuation text with the chip edge while keeping the icon on the first line. **Problem:** Plain composer decorations used absolute icons plus cloned icon-sized padding, so every wrapped fragment inherited an empty icon gap and the icon aligned against the union of all lines. **Solution:** Keep the icon in the first fragment's inline flow and restore normal chip padding on continuation fragments, while explicitly leaving the separate wrapping Buzz-link and sent-message rendering paths unchanged. <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/composer.css** Scopes in-flow icon geometry and normal continuation padding to plain composer mention and channel decorations, excluding wrapping atom-link chips and preserving the human-icon vertical correction. **desktop/tests/e2e/mentions.spec.ts** Adds a rendered narrow-composer regression that checks two fragments, static icon geometry, first-line icon space, and continuation-line alignment to ordinary chip padding. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Open a channel in Buzz Desktop. 2. Narrow the chat composer enough for `#all-replies` to wrap. 3. Confirm the channel icon occupies only the first line and `replies` starts at the chip's normal left padding rather than an icon-sized inset. 4. Send or view a long inline Buzz chip in the message list at a constrained width. 5. Confirm its icon remains attached to the leading fragment and its remaining label continues cleanly on following lines. ## Screenshots **Composer — wrapped `#all-replies` channel reference** **Message list — existing wrapped inline-chip rendering preserved** Signed-off-by: Taylor Ho <taylorkmho@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Carl <acda9e433d19dcd0e6b6840f7f4b98f3a56f1fab98049d444c087019e6d36560@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

fix(desktop): discover authenticated owned relay agents (#7122)
🤖 ## Summary An agent you own could be missing from **New message → To:** and **Channel members → Add people and agents** on a machine that has never managed it. This PR lets those existing lists find your agent without requiring a shared channel first. Desktop now checks records proving you own it, rather than looking only at agents in channels you've already joined. **No new screen or control is added.** For example, an agent with verified ownership and **Who can send instructions → Only me (default)** can now appear even with no shared channels. Each screen still applies its existing access rules; this does not make every discovered agent selectable everywhere. | Screen / control | Before | After this PR alone | | --- | --- | --- | | **New message → To:** recipient picker | An owned agent absent from this machine and shared-channel bot lists could be missing. | Its named **agent** row can appear; selecting it adds a recipient chip. This is recipient selection, not a guarantee that a later message will reach or wake the agent. | | **Channel members → Add people and agents** | The same agent could be missing from **Not in this channel** search results. | Its row can appear with the existing **Add** button. If you can add members, that button submits the existing channel-membership request; finding the row alone changes no membership. | | **Stream / forum composer → @ suggestions** | An owned agent already in the channel under an ordinary member role could be missing from agent suggestions. | Its actual membership is recognized without requiring the bot role. Agents not managed on this device still need membership in that channel. | | **Pulse → Agents** | An agent absent from both local management and the server's agent list was omitted from the count and author lookup. | The count and feed's author lookup can include it; notes appear only if it has published them. | Being listed does **not** mean the agent is online, add it to a channel, or grant local Start/Edit controls. For agents not managed on this device, global **Search** still excludes those configured for “Only me”, and DM @ selection is not added here. DM @ selection and message-driven nonmember invitation are addressed in [#7124](https://github.com/block/buzz/pull/7124); the standalone forum **Invite / Cancel** flow is in [#7125](https://github.com/block/buzz/pull/7125). <details> <summary>Ownership and membership checks</summary> A discovery lead is not proof: the latest agent profile must have a valid signature and exactly one valid ownership attestation—the owner's signed link to that agent. Its response policy must be signed by that verified owner; an invalid latest policy cannot restore an older permission. Membership comes separately from the latest server-signed roster, including removals. Existing profile cards, owner labels and agent-avatar shapes also use this stricter verification: malformed or forged evidence must not supply ownership/agent classification on its own. Valid ownership was already recognized; no profile-picture or badge design changes. Attestation time conditions apply to the signed event's timestamp, not a live expiry timer. Existing legacy compatibility and builds requiring verified owner policy retain their respective rules. Discovery and sending remain separate operations, not an atomic permission check. </details> ### Review corrections - When runtime and owner policy overlap, **explicit online/away/offline from the verified latest runtime is retained**. Policy still supplies ownership/permissions; claimed runtime membership is not restored. Missing/unrecognized status stays unknown, and invalid latest policy cannot revive runtime permissions. - Discovery without runtime evidence is now **unknown**, not offline: native conversion, both IPC adapters, Pulse, Projects and profile/session consumers preserve that distinction. Unknown has no status dot and is not promoted to a deployed/running agent. - Both relay-only picker paths retain the authenticated owner, including the existing **managed by you** label. The analogous global Search projection is fixed without changing its existing “anyone” filter. - Authorized stored profile activity remains visible when liveness becomes unknown/absent or the active turn ends. History reads do not start a live subscription, grant access, or imply current availability. ### Related issue Independent base: `main`. feat(agents): harness-agnostic effort write path and spawn bridge (#4625)
## Summary Genericizes the agent effort write-side so Goose participates in the same canonical effort contract as buzz-agent. A spawn bridge translates the canonical key to whatever the target harness expects at launch time. Read/write/spawn paths all derive their vocabulary from runtime metadata rather than a hardcoded buzz-agent list. ## What changed ### Rust — config bridge + spawn path - `apply_spawn_effort_env` in `effort.rs`: production command-boundary seam — writes baked env, runs the effort projection, strips per-runtime suppress set, and emits exactly one projected key. - `apply_effort_to_spawn_command` in `runtime.rs`: thin wrapper returning a `#[must_use] EffortApplied(())` token (private field — unforgeable outside the function). `spawn_agent_child` calls it as `let effort = apply_effort_to_spawn_command(...)` and passes `effort` to `spawn_with_effort_proof`. Deleting the call is a compile error: `effort` is undefined at the `spawn_with_effort_proof` site. Deleting `apply_spawn_effort_env` inside the wrapper turns the production-sequence tests RED. - `apply_record_field_updates` in `agent_models_update.rs`: returns `Result<RecordFieldsApplied, String>` (`#[must_use]` token). `update_managed_agent` calls it as `let applied = apply_record_field_updates(...)?` then passes `applied` to `stamp_record_updated_at`. Deleting the call is a compile error: `applied` is undefined at the `stamp_record_updated_at` site. - Unknown/custom-runtime passthrough: `apply_effort_launch_to_command` skips the suppress loop when `preserve_passthrough && value.is_none()`, preserving ambient ACP sentinels. - `EnvVarGuard`: prior value stored as `OsString` (`var_os`) so non-Unicode values are restored exactly on Drop. A single `PROCESS_ENV_MUTEX` in `managed_agents/mod.rs` is shared by `lock_path_mutex()` and `lock_env_mutex()` — any two tests calling either helper are mutually exclusive with each other. Tests in other modules (`app_state_tests`, `agent_config_tests`, `reader_tests`) maintain their own independent locks and are not in this domain. - Dead-code: `strip_effort_keys_from_command` marked `#[cfg(test)]`; import path in `effort_cmd_tests.rs` fixed. - Windows CI fix: platform-gated variants for inherited-env tests. ### TypeScript — renderer + model cleanup - `AgentConfigFields` orphan-model cleanup effect: the `isHarnessNativeEffort` early-return was skipping the model clear on provider→Custom transitions. Refined to: return early only when model is already null; clear model once while preserving the harness-native effort key (Carl P2). - Provider-empty convergence: when model is null and effort is native, the cleanup effect returns early (nothing to clear) — prevents spurious `onConfigChange` loop. - `EffortSelectField` / `humanizeEffortLabel`: runtime-native option labels title-cased (`off` → `Off`) with raw canonical values preserved for round-trip fidelity. - `AgentConfigFields`: drives effort renderer from `selectedRuntime.effortCanonicalValues` (harness-native path) or the model/provider catalog (buzz-agent/provider path), selected by `isHarnessNativeEffort`. ### Docs - `desktop/src/features/agents/AGENTS.md` item 14: updated from deleted `persistAgentEffortLevel` direct-write contract to the shipped Save-gated `update_managed_agent.effortLevel` path. Consistent with `EffortPickerField`'s own doc comment. ### Tests - `agent_models_update_tests.rs`: seam tests via `apply_record_field_updates` — non-local rejects, local set/clear, ordering invariant, ACP-sentinel sweep. `record_field_updates_persist_effort_to_disk` (renamed from the prior false-claim name) drives load→apply→stamp→save→load via a mock AppHandle + tempdir, asserting `effort_level` persists to disk. Manual HOME/XDG restore replaced with RAII `EnvVarGuard` (panic-safe, `OsString`-exact). - `effort_cmd_tests.rs` / `effort_tests.rs`: production-sequence seam tests via `apply_effort_to_spawn_command`. Spawns `/usr/bin/env` to verify child's real env. `EnvVarGuard` for panic-safe restore. Windows twin using `cmd /c set`. - `effortAutoClear.test.mjs`: five mounted stateful journeys via `AgentConfigFields` with `useCustomSelect=true`. Covers: custom trigger shows "Off" at mount; provider-empty mount is a stable fixed point; provider→Custom switch converges; stale Anthropic model cleared on Custom switch with Goose effort preserved (Carl P2 regression); Settings-style Save/reread preserves effort. - `agentDefaultsEditor.test.mjs`: two full Save/Next journey tests through the real production parent trees. Both start with `GOOSE_THINKING_EFFORT: "low"` and operate the real Popover-based effort control (click trigger → click "off" option) before Save/Next, asserting zero writes after selection. The `set_global_agent_config` stub captures the submitted payload; each test asserts raw `GOOSE_THINKING_EFFORT: "off"` in the captured config. The stub stores its canonical response from the actual payload; the fresh remount's `get_global_agent_config` returns that stored object (not a hand-written fixture), then asserts "Off" shown. The `DefaultConfigStep` test starts with `isDirty: false` — the real-control effort selection calls `onConfigChange → updateDraft → isDirtyRef=true`, making the `commit()` on Next load-bearing. ## Mutation evidence - Delete `let effort = apply_effort_to_spawn_command(...)` call from `spawn_agent_child` → compile error: `error[E0425]: cannot find value `effort`` at `spawn_with_effort_proof` site. - Delete `let applied = apply_record_field_updates(...)?` from `update_managed_agent` → compile error: `error[E0425]: cannot find value `applied`` at `stamp_record_updated_at` site. - Delete `apply_spawn_effort_env` from inside `apply_effort_to_spawn_command` wrapper → `production_sequence_goose_inherited_collision_resolved_in_child` RED. - Revert `isHarnessNativeEffort &&` guard in cleanup `useEffect` to bare `if (isHarnessNativeEffort) return` → stale model not cleared → Carl P2 regression test RED. - Remove `isHarnessNativeEffort ||` from the nothing-to-clear condition → provider-empty mount emits `onConfigChange` → loop test RED. - Remove `isHarnessNativeEffort` branch in `AgentConfigFields.tsx:634-636` → both `agentDefaultsEditor.test.mjs` mount assertions fail: trigger shows "Select" instead of initial effort label. - Remove `preserve_passthrough` guard in `apply_effort_launch_to_command` → `production_sequence_custom_inherited_acp_sentinel_survives` RED. - Drop `GOOSE_THINKING_EFFORT` from the `set_global_agent_config` stub payload → payload assertion in `agentDefaultsEditor.test.mjs` fails (`undefined !== "off"`) → RED (verified). - Remove the effort-select dirtying steps from the `DefaultConfigStep` test (so `isDirty` stays false) → `commit()` is a no-op → write-count assertion after Next fails (0 instead of 1) → RED. --------- Signed-off-by: Will Pfleger <pfleger.will@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Duncan <dcfd242e557282d7a1e2cf2e6877522682f1e5c6156dc92ca7d90eaedd3b0f95@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Signed-off-by: Hayt <9e1c23a3fd83f61da34420e4e88ff1b16e45cafcc0cd9019eb07d4ecfa8ca9b0@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Duncan <dcfd242e557282d7a1e2cf2e6877522682f1e5c6156dc92ca7d90eaedd3b0f95@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Hayt <9e1c23a3fd83f61da34420e4e88ff1b16e45cafcc0cd9019eb07d4ecfa8ca9b0@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

feat(desktop): add thread-scoped ACP session experiment (#6909)
## Why Thread-scoped ACP sessions from #6732 need an opt-in desktop rollout that preserves today’s channel policy by default. ## What - Add the default-off “Thread Scoped ACP Sessions” toggle under Settings → Experiments using the existing feature-override persistence. - Map the persisted setting to `BUZZ_ACP_SESSION_POLICY=channel|thread` for every local and provider-backed managed ACP launch. Changes apply when managed agents next start; DMs remain conversation-scoped by the backend. - Keep the desktop setting authoritative over descriptor environment and cover the UI, persistence, local spawn, provider payload, and existing Projects/Workflows experiments. ## Risk Assessment Low. The experiment defaults off and explicitly preserves `channel`; changes are limited to managed-agent launch configuration. Existing running agents are unchanged until their next start. ## Testing - `. ./bin/activate-hermit && just ci` — passed on the final restacked tree, including 5,674 desktop tests, 2,796 Tauri tests, and 1,860 mobile tests. - `cd desktop && pnpm build:e2e && pnpm exec playwright test tests/e2e/experimental-features.spec.ts --project=smoke` — 1 passed. - `. ./bin/activate-hermit && cargo test --manifest-path desktop/src-tauri/Cargo.toml session_policy --lib` — 4 passed. - `. ./bin/activate-hermit && cargo test --manifest-path desktop/src-tauri/Cargo.toml commands::agents::deploy::tests --lib` — 15 passed. - `. ./bin/activate-hermit && cargo test -p buzz-backend-kubernetes --test wire_fixtures` — 4 passed. ## Stack Info Stacked on #6732. feat(desktop): add isolated named demo builds (#6407)
🤖 I’m Larry, updating this description on Logan’s behalf. ## Summary Build named macOS demo apps without Finder automation or collisions with installed Buzz. `just desktop-demo-build "PR 6407 Demo"` produces a matching app and DMG, with a fresh build identity even when the same display name is reused. - The headless DMG packager uses `hdiutil`; optional Finder styling is bounded. The existing production release recipe is unchanged. - Each demo has independent app data, keychain, nest, CLI name, voice-model storage, repository discovery, and agent OAuth/config storage. Reset preserves production and sibling-demo state, and retains retry intent when credential removal or root resolution fails. - Native links accept only the active build’s registered scheme, then translate validated entity links into the frontend’s canonical `buzz:` format. - The recipe builds all six executable sidecars. Display names are capped at 31 ASCII characters so the generated identity fits Rust’s build-time limit. **Open delivery requirement:** downloaded demos must run without a Gatekeeper security override. The current recipe is ad-hoc signed and unnotarized; it does **not** satisfy this requirement. Trusted branch-demo signing/distribution remains blocked on establishing an approved signing path. This PR is not being presented as complete download-and-run delivery. ### Related issue N/A — reported in the Buzz DMG-packaging workstream. ### Testing At `11ce21ff97cb387ad676e7caa65b00964097d0bb`, macOS Blox passed the Tauri workspace suite and compiled-flags gate (including the full named-demo state; each library pass: 2,992 passed, 19 ignored), Tauri all-target clippy, the full `buzz-agent` package suite, and frontend lint/typecheck plus 5,733 tests. Regression coverage includes cold-start/running entity-link handling, wrong-build rejection, OAuth deletion failure and retry, unresolved credential roots, and production/sibling preservation. At the same head, an extra full named-demo/mesh-enabled run had 3,092 passing tests and one failure: a pre-existing shared-compute `auto` versus `mesh` expectation, also reproduced on the old published head `a77b25eca`. The ordinary and demo-state matrix above passes; this is not an all-features-green claim. Live macOS Launch Services delivery remains unverified. GitHub CI completed with 30 successful checks and 9 skipped. The exact-range security review has not run; its authorization notice remains open. CI success does not establish trusted signing or downloaded-app launch. Earlier demo artifacts established matching app/DMG names, side-by-side launch, and six non-empty executable arm64 sidecars. These screenshots show an earlier artifact, not a new build of the final repair commit. Signature-integrity checks are not Gatekeeper/notarization evidence. <img width="1032" height="548" alt="Buzz PR 6407 Demo disk image containing the matching app" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/bca0277e-db03-4308-b280-fcad55e6d601" /> <img width="1186" height="821" alt="Buzz PR 6407 Demo running alongside other Buzz installations" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/b4bf4ae5-c341-4e15-8090-9d2ea7c623b6" /> --------- Signed-off-by: Logan Johnson <loganj@squareup.com> Signed-off-by: Larry <8cf5a83f590ec0955b11647d1c88f796a98e088c30a492c58e0e46c3026ae7a4@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Other Brother Darryl <cee32d92756729ee0c097c5661b879c6199931cd25315c8cf398dcbf0f155cf1@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Larry <loganj+sandbox-larry@squareup.com> Co-authored-by: Larry <8cf5a83f590ec0955b11647d1c88f796a98e088c30a492c58e0e46c3026ae7a4@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

fix(desktop): back split thread headers (#7137)
## Summary - render an auxiliary panel's requested header backdrop in docked/split mode - preserve explicit transparent-backdrop behavior - cover a populated, scrolled thread pane so timeline content cannot bleed through its header ## Root cause `RightAuxiliaryPane` correctly paints above the channel's shared header backdrop so close/edit controls remain visible. The docked `AuxiliaryPanelHeader` branch, however, ignored its `backdrop` request, leaving scrolled thread content in that higher stacking context unbacked. ## Verification - desktop unit suite: 5,801 passed - desktop TypeScript: passed - Biome checks: passed (existing unrelated repository warnings only in the earlier full run) - targeted Playwright scroll regression: passed - ultrawide thread-pane Playwright coverage: passed Signed-off-by: Wintermute <c0fc581234c3585602139eec347ced7b82af65b6f6c10728348515c0c06c51c3@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Wintermute <c0fc581234c3585602139eec347ced7b82af65b6f6c10728348515c0c06c51c3@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

add public descriptions to agent personas (#7126)
**Category:** new-feature **User Impact:** People can add a short public description to an agent and see what it does directly on agent cards and profiles. **Problem:** Agent cards previously showed only a model label, so people had to open an agent and inspect its instructions to understand its purpose. Public metadata also needed one trustworthy lifecycle across local edits, relay catalogs, profiles, and portable snapshots. **Solution:** Add an optional owner-authored description with a 280-character visible-text policy, publish it as profile `about`, and prefer it on agent cards while retaining the model fallback. Description metadata is excluded from the spawn-content hash, remains definition-owned, and is validated independently at every untrusted or persistence boundary. <details> <summary>File Open **Agents**, edit a custom or built-in agent, and enter a sentence in **Description**. 2. Save the agent and confirm the sentence appears as the second line on its card. 3. Reopen the agent and confirm the authored description is restored; clear it and confirm the card returns to the model label. 4. Paste more than 280 Unicode characters and confirm the field keeps the first 280 characters and shows the near-limit counter. 5. Share or export/import the agent and confirm the description survives in the catalog/profile or snapshot without showing a restart-required badge for a description-only edit. ### Screenshots / Demo The focused Playwright flow `built-in persona edits persist` exercises the edited dialog, persisted value, and resulting card subtitle. Screenshots can be added after review if the field placement or two-line card treatment needs visual iteration. ### Verification - `cargo test --manifest-path desktop/src-tauri/Cargo.toml --lib` — 3,029 passed - `cd desktop && pnpm test` — 5,805 passed - `cd desktop && pnpm exec tsc --noEmit` - Focused Playwright: `built-in persona edits persist` — passed - Pre-push desktop, Tauri, typecheck, test, file-size, and branch-skew gates — passed --------- Signed-off-by: tulsi <tulsi@block.xyz> |

feat(desktop): add protected-build Bestie experiment (#6902)
## Summary Introduces a protected-build boundary for the default-off Bestie experiment without adding any Bestie product surface. - Official OSS builds select an empty protected-feature module and emit no Bestie/Chief metadata or implementation content. - Protected internal builds select a separate module graph containing the Bestie experiment definition. - Within an internal build, Bestie remains disabled until the user opts in under Settings → Experiments. - The production build runs an artifact matrix and fails if OSS output contains protected content or internal output lacks the Bestie manifest. ## Build contract | Build variant | User opt-in | Result | | --- | --- | --- | | Official OSS | Any/forged | Bestie absent from the compiled artifact | | Protected internal | Off | Bestie available but disabled | | Protected internal | On | Bestie enabled | The companion protected-release change is squareup/buzz-releases#91. It sets `VITE_BUZZ_BESTIE=1`, requires that exact value, forwards it into the signed macOS build, and asserts the contract in release validation. ## Why this is separate This gives later Bestie PRs one build-selected import seam. Protected implementations must be reachable only from the internal module so they never enter the official OSS module graph. ## Non-goals - No Bestie persona or provisioning - No sidebar, app-chrome, or message-toolbar UI - No entitlement or secrecy claim: the source is public; this boundary controls official Block artifacts ## Verification - Exact commit `523cf49ced03cba9be43836a54d6aa5d6923cc82` - Full `just ci`: 5,673 Desktop tests, 2,773 Tauri tests, 1,860 mobile tests, Rust/Tauri/web/mobile static checks and builds - OSS production artifact: scanner confirms no `Bestie`, `Chief of Staff`, or `builtin:bestie` content - Internal production artifact: scanner confirms the protected Bestie manifest is emitted - Both build orders verified; `dist` retains the requested variant for Vite/Tauri packaging --------- Signed-off-by: Arjun Mahanti <arjun@squareup.com> Signed-off-by: Fizz <fizz@buzz.local> Signed-off-by: Fizz <dae5f6af70b8695a8b83c8deae555f63be41630ec2b8cd493e41a439c9527dd8@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Codex <noreply@openai.com> Co-authored-by: Fizz <fizz@buzz.local> Co-authored-by: Fizz <dae5f6af70b8695a8b83c8deae555f63be41630ec2b8cd493e41a439c9527dd8@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

fix(relay): reject a frame on its own acknowledgement channel (#6961)
Pinky, an AI agent, updated this description on Wes's behalf after
taking over the startup investigation.
**Category:** fix
**User Impact:** An EVENT refused by WebSocket admission or handler
saturation receives a correlated `OK(event_id, false, reason)` instead
of an uncorrelated NOTICE, so the client can settle that refusal without
waiting for its publish timeout. Rate-limited refusals also arm client
backoff. This fixes a protocol failure mechanism; it does not establish
that every startup send will succeed or that the reported Desktop
startup incident is fully resolved.
**Problem:** Startup opens several live subscriptions and publishes at
once, and the relay's WebSocket admission gate is a fixed 5-second
window (`ws_admission_budget` = `human_ws_events_per_sec * 5`). If that
shared per-principal quota is exhausted, `enforce_ws_admission`
previously rejected an EVENT with a bare `["NOTICE", reason]`. Quota
pressure is a possible trigger, not proof of the original incident's
complete cause.
A NOTICE carries no event id. Both clients settle a pending publish
*only* from an `OK` keyed by event id (desktop `pendingEvents`, mobile
`_pendingEvents`), so nothing settled — and `handle_text_message`
returns early, so no `OK` ever followed either. The send **could not
fail**; it could only time out at `PUBLISH_TIMEOUT_MS` = 25s. That
explains how this rejection mechanism can produce a roughly 25-second
timeout; attributing the original report to it still requires the actual
startup/send workflow.
The handler-semaphore saturation path had the identical defect, and that
one needs no quota burst to fire.
**Solution:** NIP-01 gives each request type its own acknowledgement
channel, and a rejection is only actionable on the same one. Reject a
REQ with `CLOSED`, an EVENT with `OK(id, false, reason)`, and fall back
to `NOTICE` only where no per-request correlation exists. COUNT refusals
now also use `CLOSED(query_id, reason)` per NIP-45, covering both quota
admission and handler saturation (added in
`cd12c93804b87a24b61075dfd171dc471a0a527f`).
Reason strings are unchanged, so the `rate-limited:` prefix and `retry
in {N}s` hint that existing client gates parse keep working (desktop
`parseRateLimitHint`, mobile `RelayRateLimitGate`, buzz-acp
`set_rate_limit_gate`). Only the frame *type* changes, so
`docs/multi-tenant-relay.md` L7 stays satisfied.
Two notes on how this landed, both worth a reviewer's attention:
1. **A survived mutation became a design change.**
`send_admission_result` originally took a `RejectionTarget` parameter,
and reverting the *second* call site (the per-minute message quota)
survived the whole suite — with Redis unreachable the first quota check
short-circuits, so that line is unreachable in test. Rather than test
around it, the parameter is gone: the target is derived from the frame,
so no call site can name the wrong channel.
2. **The relay fix would have caused a client regression on its own.**
Gate arming lived only in the NOTICE branch. Once rejections arrive as
`OK:false`, `handleOk` failed the send without ever backing off — the
client would retry straight into the same quota. Desktop and Mobile now
arm on a `rate-limited:` OK rejection. ACP was subsequently fixed in
`3b06dd32493596ec650f20abf8805791c50fdc24`: it arms the gate and
re-parks only the refused observer frame, preserving other in-flight
frames. Desktop gets `activateRateLimitIfSignalled` as the single owner
of that prefix test, called from both `handleOk` and the NOTICE branch.
<details>
<summary>File changes</summary>
**crates/buzz-relay/src/rejection.rs** (new)
Owns the admission-rejection concern: `RejectionTarget`,
`rejection_target_for`, `request_rejection_message`,
`send_admission_result`, and `enforce_ws_admission`, moved out of
`connection.rs`. Six tests, two of which drive the real
`enforce_ws_admission` against a real `AppState`.
**crates/buzz-relay/src/connection.rs**
Fix the EVENT handler-semaphore rejection to correlate to the event id;
delegate admission to the new module. Add two tests that drive the real
`handle_text_message` with every handler permit held. Down from 1319 to
1116 lines.
**crates/buzz-relay/src/state.rs**
Widen the existing `test_state` helper to `pub(crate)` so the rejection
tests reuse it rather than adding a ninth copy of `AppState`
construction.
**desktop/src/shared/api/relayRateLimitGate.ts**
Add `activateRateLimitIfSignalled` — one owner for the `rate-limited:`
prefix test, since three inbound frame types now carry it.
**desktop/src/shared/api/relayClientSession.ts**
Arm the gate on a rate-limited OK rejection; route the NOTICE branch
through the same helper. Net zero lines, which keeps this
already-oversized file within the differential ratchet.
**desktop/src/shared/api/relayClientPublishRejection.test.mjs** (new)
Four tests against the real `RelayClient`: a rate-limited OK settles the
pending publish and arms the gate; an ordinary rejection does not arm
it; an accepted OK still resolves.
**mobile/lib/shared/relay/relay_session.dart**
Arm the gate in `_handleOk` for a rate-limited rejection.
**mobile/test/shared/relay/relay_session_test.dart**
Two tests driving the real `publish` + `debugHandleMessage` path.
</details>
<details>
<summary>Validation</summary>
**Mutation-tested — 5 mutations, all now killed.** Each production call
site was reverted to the defective behaviour to confirm a test fails.
This caught two false-negative tests:
| # | Mutation | Result |
|---|----------|--------|
| 1 | `rejection_target_for`: EVENT → `Connection` | 4 tests fail |
| 2 | EVENT handler-semaphore call site → bare NOTICE | **survived at
first** |
| 3 | per-minute quota call site → `Connection` | **survived**; fixed by
removing the parameter |
| 4 | desktop `handleOk` gate arming removed | 1 test fails |
| 5 | mobile `_handleOk` gate arming removed | 1 test fails |
Mutation 2 is the lesson: my first saturation test called
`request_rejection_message` directly, so reverting the real call site
inside the `match` arm left it green. It now drives
`handle_text_message` itself and dies on that mutation.
- `cargo test -p buzz-relay` — 928 passed, 1 failed:
`api::mesh_demo::tests::demo_join_forwarded_arm_round_trips_echo`,
**pre-existing**, reproduced with all changes stashed at `4dd4d73de`.
- `cd desktop && npm test` — 5721 passed, 0 failed (full suite).
- `cd mobile && flutter test` — 1876 passed, 0 failed (full suite).
- `just fmt-check`, `just clippy`, `just desktop-check`, `just
mobile-check`, `just file-size-check` — clean. Desktop's 5 biome
warnings are pre-existing (reproduced with changes stashed).
- All 9 pre-push lanes green, including `rust-tests` and
`desktop-tauri-checks`.
**Not verified:** not reproduced end-to-end against a live relay under a
forced quota burst. The causal chain is source-proven and
mutation-proven at the frame level; the ~25s attribution follows from
`PUBLISH_TIMEOUT_MS` but is not directly measured. A packaged-build
click-through would close that gap.

## Current review disposition (2026-08-28)
The [review on
`cd12c938`](https://github.com/block/buzz/pull/6961#pullrequestreview-5052902510)
identified ACP's missing rate-limited-OK handling. Commit
`3b06dd32493596ec650f20abf8805791c50fdc24` fixes gate arming, re-parking
the specifically refused observer frame, and the stale NOTICE comment.
Two regressions drive the real frame dispatcher. See [the implementation
and validation
response](https://github.com/block/buzz/pull/6961#issuecomment-5455032054).
The Mobile generation-check inline thread is resolved: its `async
publish` returns a failed Future when superseded; it does not throw
synchronously at invocation. No further production change was indicated
by that comment.
The validation counts above describe the original slice, not a new
rerun. At `3b06dd324`, the current GitHub check rollup has successful
completed test/build checks (non-applicable jobs skipped). The
security-review comment still requires review for the current base/head
range; do not read a green authorization job as a completed security
review. Approval and merge remain human decisions.

fix(composer): polish automatic mentions (#6956)
**Category:** improvement **User Impact:** Automatic mentions are easier to turn off and now behave consistently across conversations, settings, drafts, and repeated agent mentions. **Problem:** People found the new automatic mention behavior hard to control: turning it off in Settings did not reliably affect the composer, removing a mention could require also disabling the feature, and root/thread composers could inherit or restore surprising state. Other reported rough edges included only one of several mentioned agents becoming automatic, synthetic mentions leaking into drafts, restored mentions corrupting adjacent text, controls remaining visible in archived channels, and unclear picker feedback. See the [original feedback thread](buzz://message?channel=e62570dd-33ad-42c5-b92b-75f2689f9694&id=c949ec399274fbb0d6633da3f95712e843a67dcada214f63d72f6975b406604b). **Solution:** Polish the existing feature around the problems people encountered, keeping automatic mentions controllable and scoped to the active conversation. | Reported issue | UX fix | | --- | --- | | Turning automatic mentions off in Settings did not reliably update the composer. | The global setting and composer control stay synchronized, and disabling the feature does not clear typed text. | | Removing an automatic mention could require both deleting the mention and turning off the feature. | Removing or unchecking an agent excludes that agent for the current conversation, while explicitly re-adding the agent can restore automatic mention behavior. | | Root and thread composers could share or restore surprising selections. | Each root or thread composer keeps its own automatic audience and restores it when the user returns. A request to enable automatic mentions only in agent threads was considered; this PR keeps them available at the channel root but prevents state from leaking between the two. | | Mentioning multiple agents could leave only one saved as automatic. | Multi-agent selections remain represented in the automatic audience and restored mention chips. | | Automatic mention prefixes could be saved as if the user typed them. | Synthetic prefixes stay out of persisted drafts while authored text is preserved. | | Restored mentions could lose their separator and corrupt continued typing. | Restored multi-word mentions retain their trailing space and place the caret after it. | | Archived channels showed automatic-mention state beside a disabled composer. | Disabled composers hide automatic-mention controls while preserving the draft and restoring state when re-enabled. | | Confirmation and picker behavior made the feature feel difficult to inspect or adjust. | Confirmations dismiss with removed agents, remain open while hovered, and expose the setting before it changes; pin icons, contrast, scope copy, animation, and keyboard toggling are also clarified. | | Agent suggestions and membership state could shift during directory refreshes. | Suggestions and membership labels stay stable during refreshes, while send-time authorization still revalidates access. | ## hygiene, restored chips, separators, hover behavior, and disabled presentation. </details> ## Reproduction Steps 1. Open a channel with at least two available agents and enable automatic mentions from the composer mention control. 2. Select multiple agents, remove or uncheck one, and confirm subsequent composer updates keep that agent excluded while the others remain automatic. 3. Open a thread, choose a different automatic audience there, and switch between the thread and root composer; confirm each composer retains only its own choices. 4. Disable automatic mentions and confirm the draft text remains unchanged while automatic chips and controls show the disabled state; re-enable the setting and confirm eligible automatic chips return. 5. Delete an automatic mention chip, then explicitly add the agent again; confirm it immediately returns as an automatic mention without disturbing spaces or the caret, including for a multi-word name. 6. Reload with a saved draft and confirm implicit automatic mentions were not persisted as authored draft text. 7. Use the automatic-mention keyboard shortcut and picker repeatedly; confirm the picker remains open for additional choices and the highlighted agent toggles in place. ## Validation Validated at `34d208b47d64a9816f88e10a46bcfd479e917d75` after rebasing onto `origin/main` (`69096c9a8`): - Desktop unit tests: 5,731 passed, 0 failed. - Desktop TypeScript typecheck: passed. - Desktop E2E build: passed; emitted only existing chunk and dynamic-import warnings. - `pnpm check`: exited successfully; 4 warnings and 5 informational findings are in unrelated files introduced by current main. ## Screenshots/Demos The behavioral changes are covered by the focused desktop E2E scenarios above. refactor(db): extract domain stores from database runtime (#6987)
## Summary Finish the remaining database-store extraction tracked by [TheSentinel454/buzz#2](https://github.com/TheSentinel454/buzz/issues/2) in one reviewable PR. This consolidates the previously stacked domain slices after #6782 merged. It preserves the runtime/store boundary established by #6660, #6668, #6700, and #6782 while separating database runtime infrastructure from domain-owned persistence: - `runtime/` owns pool construction and sizing, writer/reader routing, read sessions and route proofs, transaction infrastructure, observability primitives, replica fencing, health support, migrations, and cross-cutting runtime tests. - `store/` owns domain records, SQL, row parsing, locks and invariants, `Db` domain methods, focused tests, and logical-operation datastore spans. - `lib.rs` remains a 57-line compatibility facade that preserves existing crate-root paths and `Db` method signatures through re-exports. Domain coverage includes API tokens, authentication allowlists, reminders, event queries, threads, reactions, feeds, users and DMs, push, workflows/runs/approvals, relay membership and invites, product feedback, moderation/admin moderation, relay admin actions/operators, git repositories, archived identities, usage, partition maintenance, deletion, channel membership inherited from merged #6782, and the final runtime/store layout. The branch has been rebased onto current `main`. Database changes that landed there were incorporated rather than overwritten: `relay_admin_actions.rs` and `relay_operators.rs` now live under `store/`, their 27 public `Db` wrappers and existing behavior remain intact, and every wrapper has exactly one fixed-name datastore span. Concurrent changes to migration, moderation, admin moderation, and error handling are also retained. ### Exact base and head - Base: `main` at `ed11c8d8bf0a17402be5cf243724f89471530d2f` - Head: `codex/issue-2-store-extraction` at `be24430472d1a87ac5c0d6026c620cd6caea3537` ### Related issue - Structural tracker: [TheSentinel454/buzz#2](https://github.com/TheSentinel454/buzz/issues/2) - Domain trackers: [#6](https://github.com/TheSentinel454/buzz/issues/6), [#7](https://github.com/TheSentinel454/buzz/issues/7), [#12](https://github.com/TheSentinel454/buzz/issues/12), [#13](https://github.com/TheSentinel454/buzz/issues/13) - Acceptance trackers: [#17](https://github.com/TheSentinel454/buzz/issues/17), [#19](https://github.com/TheSentinel454/buzz/issues/19) This supersedes #6783, #6784, #6787, #6788, #6789, #6792, #6820, #6794, #6796, #6797, #6798, #6799, #6804, #6805, #6806, #6808, #6809, #6811, #6812, #6813, #6814, #6815, and #6890. Their discussions remain available for review history. ### #17 / #19 acceptance - Preserves the metric names, fixed labels, transaction/lock timing boundaries, and privacy/cardinality constraints introduced by #6700. - Keeps exactly one datastore span per public logical operation, including the 27 relay-admin wrappers added on `main`. - Removes `store_ownership.rs`; physical ownership and focused source guards now enforce the boundary directly. - Leaves no `impl Db`, domain SQL, focused domain test group, or datastore span in `lib.rs`. - Preserves existing public paths such as `buzz_db::channel`, `buzz_db::event`, and `buzz_db::workflow` through crate-root re-exports while keeping internal `runtime` and `store` namespaces private. ### Non-goals - No SQL, schema, locking, transaction, retry, timeout, or client-visible behavior changes. - No generic store traits, domain handles, broad `PgExecutor` migration, new store crate, raw pool accessor, or broader directory reorganization. - No tracker issues are closed by this PR. ### Risk The cumulative diff is large but structural. Risk is primarily module-path, ownership, or conflict-resolution drift. It is mitigated by preserving public re-exports, comparing the newly moved `main` implementations to their upstream source, source guards, touched-crate compilation, PostgreSQL-backed test coverage, and an independent exact-head review on a separate clean Blox workstation. ### Testing Author workstation `buzz-tornquist-pr-6987-rebase`, rebased branch ending at exact head `be24430472d1a87ac5c0d6026c620cd6caea3537`: - `cargo fmt --all --check` - `cargo clippy -p buzz-db -p buzz-relay --all-targets -- -D warnings` - `cargo test -p buzz-db --lib` — 113 passed, 240 PostgreSQL tests intentionally ignored - `cargo test -p buzz-db --test observability_source` — 2 passed - PostgreSQL-backed `buzz-db` coverage under native PostgreSQL — 235 passed in the shared serial run; the five shared-state/config-sensitive cases passed as isolated reruns against fresh schemas, including the two owner-limit tests with their fixture's `BUZZ_MAX_COMMUNITIES_PER_OWNER=3` - `cargo test -p buzz-relay --lib -- --test-threads=1` under native PostgreSQL/Redis — 991 passed; the three current-month partition-sensitive identity-archive cases passed after provisioning the August 2026 test partition; 87 infrastructure-marked tests remained ignored - Source/diff guards — relay-admin implementation bodies match current `main`; all 27 public wrapper signatures are retained; exactly one datastore span wraps each wrapper; `lib.rs` has zero `impl Db` blocks and zero datastore spans; no duplicate top-level relay-admin modules or `store_ownership.rs`; `error.rs` matches current `main` Independent clean review workstation `buzz-tornquist-pr-6987-review`, detached at exact head `be24430472d1a87ac5c0d6026c620cd6caea3537`: - `cargo fmt --all --check` - `cargo clippy -p buzz-db -p buzz-relay --all-targets -- -D warnings` - `cargo test -p buzz-db --lib` — 113 passed, 240 ignored - `cargo test -p buzz-db --test observability_source` — 2 passed - Exact-head ownership/re-export/instrumentation audit — no remaining actionable findings --------- Signed-off-by: OpenAI Codex <codex@openai.com> Signed-off-by: tornquist <tornquist@squareup.com> Co-authored-by: OpenAI Codex <codex@openai.com> |

feat(desktop): add team sharing to community catalog (#3995)
Stack: [#5112](https://github.com/block/buzz/pull/5112) → this PR Stacks on the team catalog backend PR (#5112). Contains the `desktop/**` changes that turn the add-agent surface into a single Community Catalog browsing both shared agents and shared teams. ## Owner catalog sync pipeline `usePersonaSync.ts` gains a hydration pipeline in `startPersonaSync` so a fresh device that comes online after another already published the owner's 30178 catalog head reconstructs the complete state without falsely retracting it. The owner's persona/team/managed-agent/30178/deletion history is backfilled up front (a live-only subscription gets no history — reconnect-replay's since-cursor is undefined until the first live event), then a live subscription takes over. Four properties keep a fresh sync from purging the owner's valid shared head: - **Paged backfill with a safe termination guarantee.** The relay serves each REQ newest-first and clamps `limit` to its advertised `max_limit`, so a large owner's history overflows one page — a newer 30178/30176 could return in-page while an older required 30175 constituent falls beyond it. `fetchOwnerHistoryToExhaustion` pages the full window with the `until` time cursor (the only cursor the WS REQ filter exposes; the DB `before_id` keyset is REST-only), deduping the inclusive-boundary rows. A short page terminates normally. A full page whose oldest event cannot advance the time-only cursor is a **dense boundary** — more than one page of events share one `created_at` second, which the WS filter has no `(created_at, id)` cursor to escape — and raises `PersonaHistoryDenseBoundaryError` rather than silently completing as if the history were exhausted and dropping the older constituents behind it. - **Constituents-before-catalog ordering.** Over the complete batch, `orderCatalogHeadsLast` stably defers every 30178 head past its 30175/30176 constituents. Reconciling a 30178 head before its personas hydrate makes the inbound team refresh fail member resolution and queue a dominating false tombstone; deferring the heads guarantees the constituents are all applied first, while newest-wins order within every other coordinate is untouched. - **Hydration boundary for concurrent live events.** The backfill fetch and the live subscription start concurrently into one reconcile chain. A live or replayed 30178 that arrives before the backfill reconciles its constituents would reproduce the same false-tombstone purge, so live events are buffered until the ordered backfill is dispatched and then drained in arrival order. Steady-state live events (after hydration completes) reconcile immediately. - **Explicit backfill failure policy.** A transient history-fetch rejection is retried with bounded backoff. When backfill cannot complete — retries exhausted, or a deterministic dense boundary — the pipeline enters a **degraded-live** state rather than leaving the subscription permanently inert with live events accumulating in the buffer: the hydration boundary still opens so buffered and future live events keep reconciling, but the whole catalog dependency set is dropped — the 30178 head, its 30175/30176 constituents, and any kind-5 deletion carrying a dependency-targeting `a` tag (classified by scanning *all* `a` tags, matching the backend's deletion router, which `find_map`s across every tag and routes the first signer-owned coordinate — so a malformed or foreign first `a` tag ahead of an owned 30176 cannot slip a destructive deletion through) — because backfill never fully hydrated the owner's constituents. Dropping only the 30178 head is not enough: the backend refreshes the catalog head after every team/persona save, and live delivery is newest-first, so a 30176 edit that adds a *new* member would reach the backend before that member's 30175 and falsely tombstone a witness-holding device's valid team. Holding the prior hydrated run's constituents on disk only proves the *old* revision is resolvable — it says nothing about a new member — which is why the entire dependency set is held rather than just the head. 30177 managed-agent runtime policy stays live (it drives no catalog refresh). A degraded device stays stale on team/persona edits until it self-heals on the next effect re-run (restart, or an identity/community switch) — the correct trade against destroying valid shared state. ## Data layer Relay paging, signature verification, NIP-33 head selection, and untrusted-content parsing for the kind `30178` team catalog live natively in the `fetch_team_catalog` Tauri command (`team_catalog.rs`), structurally mirroring `fetch_persona_catalog` (`persona_catalog.rs`). A catalog refresh crosses IPC once and never verifies a signature on the webview thread. `teamCatalogRelay.ts` is now a thin presentation and local-linkage layer over the verified projection — it shapes entries for display and links each to a local team, and never parses or verifies. Parsing is all-or-nothing, identical to the add-time re-fetch in `add_team_from_catalog`: a team with any invalid member fails to parse and the publication is dropped from the catalog, matching persona behavior. **Behavior delta:** the previously reviewed partial-render of invalid-member teams — a warning banner on an entry that could never be added — is removed. Invalid publications are dropped entirely rather than surfaced as un-addable. ## Hooks `useTeamCatalogRelay.ts` mirrors the persona catalog hook: a community-keyed query over `fetch_team_catalog`, live invalidation on kind `30178`, share/unshare, and add-from-catalog (which invalidates both the teams and personas stores, since adopting a team copies its members as local personas). ## CommunityCatalogDialog Single unified surface replacing the former separate dialogs. Agents and Teams appear as labeled sections with type-tagged selection and a teams-preferred launch. `TeamsSection`'s discover entry and the new-agent card both open this one dialog. `PersonaCatalogDialog.tsx` is removed; persona browsing now lives inside the unified dialog. ## TeamShareDialog Publishes and unshares team catalog entries via `set_team_shared`. ## e2e + screenshots `team-catalog.spec.ts` covers the browse + adopt flow; `team-catalog-screenshots.spec.ts` produces the pixel-regression set. `e2eBridge.ts` gains `mockTeamCatalogPublications`, which mirrors the native command's head selection and shared gate and performs only a shallow `v`/`name`/`members`-array shape check; per-member validation stays in the Rust command. ## Follow-ups None. The shared agent-definition text-safety policy (Unicode-control/bidi/zero-width rejection) already covers the team surface: #5112's `validate_team_catalog_content` chokepoint gates every field delivered verbatim to the harness on both the publish and adopt paths, and this PR's parse layer consumes that verified projection rather than re-validating on the webview thread. perf(desktop): restore project context during startup (#6939)
## Summary Project channels previously appeared as ordinary channels until the community-wide project enumeration completed, delaying the contextual right rail most noticeably on larger relays. - Restore the last fully validated, relay-and-identity-scoped project collection immediately while keeping live relay data authoritative. - Resolve the active channel's project home through scoped `#buzz-channel` queries instead of waiting for the complete project scan. - Keep snapshots aligned with community removal and relay reconnect invalidation. ### Related issue None found. ### Testing - Pre-push `file-size-check`, `desktop-check`, `desktop-typecheck`, and `desktop-test` - Project enumeration, snapshot persistence, and relay invalidation unit coverage - Targeted Playwright scenario: project sidebar rows open the home channel and nest extra channels No numeric startup benchmark was captured; this draft validates the cache and scoped-query behavior while leaving timing measurement for review. --------- Signed-off-by: Thomas Petersen <thomasp@squareup.com> |

feat(agent): discover Databricks Unity Catalog models (#6918)
## Summary Add Unity Catalog model-service discovery to `buzz-agent` Databricks v2, preserve full Unity Catalog FQNs through ACP model discovery, route model services through MLflow chat, and add the optional `DATABRICKS_MODEL_FILTER` visibility filter. The resilience follow-up bounds each catalog attempt across headers, bounded body reads, and JSON parsing; retries transient 499/5xx, transport/body failures, malformed JSON, and attempt timeouts; and emits only safe catalog/status diagnostics. ## Validation The live validation and test gates below were run on the pre-rewrite tip `1cf6c66e7c5bf9a00c357bda24df48e3beeb310b`. The rewritten tip `0364cf44f3eb5cfbd5771b0a0dd7868ce0ad2c19` has identical trees for both commits, so the attribution rewrite changes no tested code. - 31 catalog tests passed - 19 Databricks OAuth/routing integration tests passed - `cargo check -p buzz-agent` passed - `cargo clippy -p buzz-agent --all-targets -- -D warnings` passed - `cargo fmt --check` passed - `git diff --check` passed - Desktop Tauri validation passed through the repository-supported setup path, including 2,777 library tests and auxiliary terminal suites The full `buzz-agent` package has one separately reproduced pre-existing failure: `regressions::cancel_kills_inflight_tool_via_mcp_notification`, failing on both baseline `eb8e97cfe` and the follow-up worktree. No Databricks path reaches that test. The live validation proves discovery and ACP exposure, not inference against every listed model. --------- Signed-off-by: Kalvin Chau <kalvin@block.xyz> Signed-off-by: am <6e30cd56c30e030cd31bb0939b94a7c257c9a09d5ba2d92cf2735da45629f248@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: am <6e30cd56c30e030cd31bb0939b94a7c257c9a09d5ba2d92cf2735da45629f248@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

fix(client): resurface hidden DMs from live activity (#6885)
## Summary Hiding a DM row and then receiving a new message from that person never brought the row back — the reader was left with only an Inbox notification. This restores the row from live activity, client-side, with no relay or database changes. - Subscribe to hidden-DM activity **channel-scoped** over the hidden-DM id set (`#h`), re-registering whenever the set changes. The relay's `fan_out_scoped` only routes channel-scoped events (every kind:9 DM carries a `channel_id`) to channel-scoped subscriptions, so a community-global `#p` filter receives nothing. Hiding a DM never drops membership, so `#h` authorization holds. Because every delivered event is already for a hidden DM the reader belongs to, eligibility no longer needs a self `p` tag — untagged CLI/agent DMs resurface too — and no per-event visibility fetch is required. - On qualifying activity, invoke the existing open-DM action (`41010`) to reopen the hidden one-to-one or group DM, validating that the relay reopened the same channel. - Preserve the existing relay-synced hide snapshot (`41012` → `30622`); hide state still syncs across devices. - Let Inbox reopen a hidden DM before navigating to its message, with a busy state on the row and context-menu "Open in channel" action while a reopen is pending. - Coalesce resurface attempts per channel: a concurrent message that arrives while a reopen is in flight triggers a retry on failure instead of being marked handled and dropped. - Write exact dm-visibility query keys on open/hide mutations. This is the client-only replacement agreed in the Buzz design thread and supersedes #6713. The accepted limitation is that resurface only fires while a client is running — a message that arrives while all clients are closed does not restore the row on next launch (the `30622` snapshot has no watermark); Inbox click-through is the safety net for that case. Addresses #6316. --------- Signed-off-by: kenny lopez <klopez4212@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Will Pfleger <pfleger.will@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Duncan <dcfd242e557282d7a1e2cf2e6877522682f1e5c6156dc92ca7d90eaedd3b0f95@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Will Pfleger <pfleger.will@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Hayt <9e1c23a3fd83f61da34420e4e88ff1b16e45cafcc0cd9019eb07d4ecfa8ca9b0@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

fix(desktop): accent-colored mention badges that count thread mentions (#6900)
**Category:** fix **User Impact:** Sidebar mention numerals now match the user's theme/accent color and appear for mentions inside threads, not just top-level channel messages. Hover-to-preview on channel rows is unchanged. **Problem:** Follow-ups to #6696: 1. The mention numeral used a fixed red `--notification` token that ignored the user's theme and accent selection. 2. The numeral read `appBadgeCount`, which deliberately excludes threaded replies (Home's badge subtotal counts those toward the Dock badge). Mentions inside threads therefore never surfaced a numeral on the channel row — only the generic thread-activity dot. **Solution:** 1. The badge now reuses the primary accent pair (`bg-primary` / `text-primary-foreground`), the same treatment as the DM count badge, so it follows whatever accent the user applies — including the pinned neutral accent of the Buzz themes. The now-unused `--notification` tokens and Tailwind utilities are removed. 2. Non-DM rows now count every unread mention/broadcast — threaded or top-level — via a new `highPriorityCount` channel projection, replacing the boolean `highPriorityUnread` across the TS contract, the Tauri SQLite store, the e2e mock bridge, and the native test rig. The Dock/app badge projection (`appBadgeCount`) is unchanged, so Dock totals do not double-count thread activity that Home already counts. The hover-to-preview channel activity popover is untouched; e2e coverage now pins the combination (thread mention → numeral, no dot, popover still opens and lists the mentioning reply). <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **desktop/src/features/channels/useUnreadChannels.ts** Non-DM sidebar counts switch from `appBadgeCount` to the mention/broadcast-inclusive `highPriorityCount`; the high-priority channel set derives from the same count. **desktop/src/features/sidebar/ui/SidebarSection.tsx** Badge drops the fixed notification classes and inherits the accent-following default. **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/theme.css / desktop/tailwind.config.js** Remove the unused fixed `--notification` tokens and semantic utilities. **desktop/src/shared/api/tauriObservedUnread.ts / desktop/src-tauri/src/observed_unread.rs** Projection contract: `highPriorityUnread: bool` → `highPriorityCount: u64`, aggregated per unread high-priority event. **desktop/src/testing/e2eBridge.ts / desktop/src/features/channels/observedUnreadNativeRig.mjs** Mock/native-rig projections mirror the new count field. **desktop/src/features/channels/observedUnreadNative.test.mjs** Native badge-lane test seeds a high-priority event to match the numeral's new semantics. **desktop/tests/e2e/badge.spec.ts** Top-level mention test now asserts the badge equals the applied accent (seeded `#22c55e` under an adversarial theme). New test: in-thread mention shows the numeral, no dot, and the hover preview popover still lists the mentioning reply. **desktop/tests/e2e/channel-activity-popover.spec.ts / desktop/tests/e2e/thread-unread.spec.ts** Seeded fixtures that mention the user now expect the numeral (which subsumes the dot). </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Pick any theme + accent color in Settings → Appearance. 2. Receive a top-level message mentioning you in an inactive channel → the row shows a numeral pill in your accent color. 3. Receive a reply **inside a thread** that mentions you in an inactive channel → the row shows the numeral (previously only a dot). 4. Hover the row → the channel activity preview still opens and lists the mentioning reply. 5. Switch accents/themes → the pill re-colors accordingly; the Dock badge count is unchanged from before. ## Verification - `tsc --noEmit`, Biome, `check:px-text` — clean - Desktop unit tests: 179/179 channel-suite; full suite has one pre-existing failure from #6590 (`useRetainedProjectGitViews.test.mjs` loader error, fails on clean `main`) - Tauri Rust: `observed_unread` tests + clippy + fmt — clean - Playwright smoke: badge (19), channel-activity-popover (10), thread-unread (13), plus channels/inbox/stream/messaging/mentions suites — all green ## Screenshots Screenshots are posted in the PR discussion using immutable repository-hosted image URLs. fix(desktop-tooltip): increase surface contrast (#6897)
**Category:** fix **User Impact:** Tooltips now use a higher-contrast surface, making their labels easier to read across desktop themes. **Problem:** Tooltip surfaces could blend into hovered content, making labels difficult to distinguish. **Solution:** Use the existing popover surface and foreground tokens for clearer visual separation and theme-aware contrast. <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **desktop/src/shared/ui/tooltip.tsx** Updates shared tooltip colors to use higher-contrast semantic surface and foreground tokens. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Apply access policy when reusing channel agents (#6838)
Reused managed identities now apply their intended inbound-author policy before attachment or startup. An explicit policy wins, then the linked persona policy, then `owner-only`. This covers both channel-agent provisioning and the direct composer autocomplete path. If the policy update fails, attachment, startup, and message send stop. The production Playwright regression starts with a persona-linked agent set to `anyone` with a stale allowlist, then verifies the update happens before membership and startup and that the stored policy is `owner-only`. A small resolver test covers explicit, persona, and default precedence. This closes the stale-policy entry described by [Project Loupe issue #497](https://github.com/project-loupe/audit-buzz/issues/497). The separate Welcome Team reuse path is outside this PR. Checked with the 5,502-test desktop suite, `pnpm check`, `pnpm typecheck`, `pnpm check:file-sizes`, and the focused Playwright composer regression. --------- Signed-off-by: Jordan Mecom <jm@squareup.com> |

feat(sidebar): prioritize unread DMs in overflow navigation (#6842)
**Category:** improvement **User Impact:** Users can see which unread direct messages are waiting offscreen and jump to the most relevant one first. **Problem:** The sidebar overflow control treated every offscreen unread conversation alike, so an unread DM could be hidden behind channel activity with no visible clue about who was waiting. **Solution:** Prioritize the first offscreen unread DM, preview up to three senders with avatars, and keep the arrow, avatars, separator, and message count intact while only the trailing phrase truncates in narrow sidebars. <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **desktop/src/features/sidebar/lib/useUnreadOverflow.ts** Adds ordered DM preview data to unread-overflow calculations while preserving the sidebar's existing visibility and direction rules. **desktop/src/features/sidebar/lib/useUnreadOverflow.test.mjs** Covers DM prioritization, ordering, offscreen filtering, and channel-only fallback behavior. **desktop/src/features/sidebar/ui/AppSidebar.tsx** Passes unread DM previews into the lower overflow control and navigates to the preferred DM before the next unread channel. **desktop/src/features/sidebar/ui/MoreUnreadButton.tsx** Renders the frontmost-first avatar stack, accessible DM target label, middot separator, and message-count treatment. **desktop/src/features/sidebar/ui/MoreUnreadButton.test.mjs** Locks the three-avatar cap, stacking order, preferred target, fallback, accessible copy, and truncation structure. **desktop/src/shared/ui/UnreadPill.tsx** Contains the primary pill and allows only its trailing label to ellipsize under width pressure. **desktop/src/shared/ui/UserAvatar.tsx** Allows the sidebar preview stack to identify each rendered avatar in regression coverage. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Open enough sidebar conversations that unread items fall below the visible area. 2. Leave one or more offscreen DMs unread, along with unread channels. 3. Confirm the bottom overflow pill shows up to three overlapping DM avatars followed by a middot and the total new-message count. 4. Select the pill and confirm it navigates to the first offscreen unread DM rather than the nearest unread channel. 5. Resize the sidebar from 420px through 300px to 220px and confirm the arrow, avatars, middot, and full numeric count remain visible; only `new messages` may ellipsize. 6. Repeat with channel-only unread overflow and confirm the control keeps its channel fallback behavior without avatars. ## Screenshots Built-UI matrix with 100px of visible space beyond the sidebar edge. feat(projects): add agent and CLI project-home support (#6590)
## Summary - inject bounded project-home identity and repository context into managed agent sessions - add project-aware CLI flows for creating projects, repositories, issues, and related channels - match project homes through the existing relay query surface, then filter channel metadata client-side This is Part 1 of the channel-first Projects stack. feat(desktop): persist agent addressing across composer messages (#6714)
**Category:** improvement **User Impact:** Agent addressing now stays visible, editable, and consistent across messages, so users can keep talking to the same agents without rebuilding the audience for every send. **Problem:** Agent addressing was transient and easy to lose track of. Inline mention text, persistent audience state, restored drafts, and sent-message rendering could drift apart, making it unclear who would receive the next message. **Solution:** The composer now treats addressed agents as a persistent audience represented by ordinary editable mention chips and a synchronized compact avatar tray. Eligible agent mentions can become persistent immediately, addressing survives sends without flashing empty, and removing or explicitly unpinning an agent updates that state without disturbing unrelated draft text. `Cmd+Shift+M` / `Ctrl+Shift+M` provides a fast way to toggle the current recipient or select the best eligible agent. - Promotes eligible inline agent mentions into persistent addressing when the preference is enabled; human mentions remain unchanged. - Keeps inline chips, restored drafts, persistent recipient state, and the avatar tray synchronized. - Clears an agent's persistent address when its final chip is removed, while explicit unpinning preserves unrelated draft text. - Restores persistent mentions optimistically during send and restores the full draft on failure, avoiding an empty-composer flash. - Deduplicates inline mentions and tag-backed address prefixes in sent messages. - Toggles the current addressed agent with `Cmd+Shift+M` / `Ctrl+Shift+M`, or selects the best eligible agent when none is addressed. - Ranks shortcut selection by recent explicit stream mentions, then active/member/runnable/stable fallbacks; DM participant fan-out does not affect recency. - Adds focused avatar feedback for entry/exit, send bounce, and failure shake, with reduced-motion and narrow-layout support. - Applies the same behavior to main and thread composers while preserving draft restoration, channel switching, and send-race correctness. ### Screenshots #### Light theme The compact tray keeps persistent recipients visible alongside editable mention chips. #### Dark theme Persistent addressing remains clear and legible in the dark composer treatment. ### Reproduction steps 1. Open a channel with an eligible agent and enable persistent agent addressing. 2. Insert an agent mention and confirm it appears as a normal editable chip while the compact avatar tray reflects the same persistent recipient. 3. Send several messages and confirm the agent remains addressed, the mention restores without an empty-composer flash, and sent messages do not duplicate the addressed agent. 4. Remove the agent's final mention chip and confirm its persistent address clears. Add unrelated draft text, explicitly unpin the agent, and confirm that text remains intact. 5. Press `Cmd+Shift+M` on macOS or `Ctrl+Shift+M` on Windows/Linux. Confirm it toggles the current addressed agent or, when none is selected, chooses the most relevant eligible agent. 6. Verify recent explicit channel/thread mentions influence shortcut selection, while DM participant fan-out does not. 7. Force a failed send and confirm the addressed avatars shake and the full draft is restored; confirm successful sends use the subtler bounce feedback. 8. Repeat in the thread composer, after switching channels, in dark theme, with reduced motion enabled, and at a narrow composer width. <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **desktop/src/features/channels/ui/ChannelPane.tsx** Feeds recent explicit agent mentions into the composer for contextual shortcut selection. **desktop/src/features/messages/lib/getVisibleAgentAddressPubkeys.ts** and tests Show tag-backed addressed agents only when they are not already represented by inline mention text. **desktop/src/features/messages/lib/mentionCandidates.ts**, **mentionRanking.ts**, **mentionSuggestionMapping.ts**, **recentMentionPubkeys.ts**, and tests Model agent eligibility and activity, derive explicit mention recency, and rank the best shortcut recipient. **desktop/src/features/messages/lib/useActiveAgentPubkeys.ts**, **useDefaultAgentSuggestion.ts**, and **useMentions.ts** Expose active-agent and recent-recipient context to mention consumers. **desktop/src/features/messages/ui/ComposerAddressControls.tsx** and tests Render the compact persistent-recipient tray with enter, exit, send, failure, layout, and reduced-motion states. **desktop/src/features/messages/ui/MessageComposer.tsx** and **MessageComposer.types.ts** Connect editable mention text, persistent addressing, shortcut selection, draft restoration, and send feedback. **desktop/src/features/messages/ui/MessageRow.tsx** Avoids duplicating addressed agents already rendered as inline mentions. **desktop/src/features/messages/ui/MessageThreadPanel.tsx** Brings the same recency and persistent-addressing behavior to thread composers. **desktop/src/features/messages/ui/useAgentAddressLockPicker.ts**, **useAutoPinMentionedAgents.ts**, **useAlwaysAddressShortcut.ts**, **useMentionSendFlow.ts**, and tests Synchronize mention chips with persistent audience state, promote eligible mentions, handle shortcut toggling/default selection, and preserve recipients through send success or failure. **desktop/src/features/messages/ui/useComposerPasteHandler.ts** and **useMentionSendFlow.types.ts** Keep the composer implementation focused by extracting paste and send-flow boundaries. **desktop/src/shared/lib/keyboard-shortcuts.ts** Documents `Cmd+Shift+M` / `Ctrl+Shift+M` as the agent-address shortcut. **desktop/tests/e2e/persistent-agent-audience.spec.ts** Exercises persistence, selection, removal, sends, failures, restored drafts, themes, reduced motion, and narrow layouts. </details> --------- Signed-off-by: Taylor Ho <taylorkmho@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Carl <acda9e433d19dcd0e6b6840f7f4b98f3a56f1fab98049d444c087019e6d36560@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

feat: navigate images across message threads (#6705)
## Summary - navigate across image occurrences that are currently rendered inside the nearest explicit open-thread DOM scope - preserve rendered DOM order, duplicate occurrence identity, hidden-spoiler exclusion, preview-image entry parity, and the exact thumbnail return target - keep adjacent timeline messages and unrelated surfaces as separate galleries - make Copy and Download follow the current gallery item, including when a link-preview image opens the gallery first and navigation reaches Markdown media ## Scope contract This is intentionally a **rendered-media gallery only**. Gallery membership comes from mounted image triggers under the nearest explicit thread scope. Collapsed or unloaded descendants are excluded until the thread UI renders them. There is no canonical thread fetch, descendant projection, depth override, or synchronous message reparse in this change. `ChannelPane.tsx` remains unchanged from `main`; `useSearchHighlightProps` and both timeline/thread prop spreads are preserved. ## Verification - rebased onto `origin/main` at `113a33b7e49b7173ee1767c49ef2f49c63803034` - `git diff --check` - differential file-size check - full Desktop check (Biome plus text/pubkey policy checks; only pre-existing informational diagnostics) - Desktop TypeScript typecheck - Desktop production build and rebuilt E2E build - full Desktop JS units: `5,476/5,476` passed - full Desktop Tauri workspace tests passed (one documented native performance test ignored) - rebuilt image gallery Playwright spec: `14/14` passed - search-highlight smoke cases: `5/5` passed - reduced diff: 6 files, `+417/-41`; production `+78/-41`, E2E `+339/-0` The four added E2E cases cover cross-message thread navigation and return targeting, rendered-only exclusion of collapsed descendants, preview-first current-item actions, and adjacent-message isolation. --------- Signed-off-by: Kalvin Chau <kalvin@block.xyz> Signed-off-by: am <6e30cd56c30e030cd31bb0939b94a7c257c9a09d5ba2d92cf2735da45629f248@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: am <6e30cd56c30e030cd31bb0939b94a7c257c9a09d5ba2d92cf2735da45629f248@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

revert fixed mention highlight (#6716)
**Category:** fix **User Impact:** Mention chips now follow the active theme without a fixed yellow fill and remain readable across every supported theme. **Problem:** PR #6696 added an opaque yellow treatment to every human and agent mention. Removing that fixed color exposed another issue: some theme accent colors do not provide WCAG AA contrast when also used as normal-size mention text. **Solution:** Remove the fixed yellow treatment and keep the active theme accent as a subtle translucent chip background. Mention labels use a light/dark semantic foreground selected for readable contrast, including hover states. <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/markdown.css** Removes the fixed-yellow treatment, retains theme-derived accent backgrounds, and applies an AA-safe semantic foreground to human and agent mention labels in resting and hover states. **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/theme.css** Removes the obsolete fixed-yellow tokens and defines light/dark mention foreground values. **desktop/tests/e2e/mentions.spec.ts** Adds rendered contrast coverage for resting and hover states across every supported syntax theme, compositing translucent chip and ancestor surfaces before checking the 4.5:1 threshold. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Open a message containing a human or agent mention. 2. Confirm its subtle background follows the active theme accent rather than using yellow. 3. Hover the mention and confirm the accent background strengthens while the label remains readable. 4. Switch between default, light, dark, and custom syntax themes and confirm mention labels remain legible. This is a focused visual rollback of the mention treatment introduced by #6696. The channel notification badge changes from that PR remain intact. --------- Signed-off-by: tulsi <tulsi@block.xyz> |

highlight search terms in results and messages (#6702)
**Category:** fix **User Impact:** Search terms are now highlighted in yellow in Cmd+F results and in the message opened from a result. **Problem:** Search returned relevant messages, but users still had to reread each preview and destination message to discover where the query appeared. Search navigation could also lose or misapply highlighting during rapid typing, repeated navigation, thread opening, and forum navigation. **Solution:** Render match-focused previews with a shared yellow treatment, carry the result query through navigation, and apply it only to the clicked destination. fix(desktop): make lightbox zoom controls interactive (#6710)
## Summary - Replace the decorative lightbox zoom icons with accessible Zoom out and Zoom in buttons. - Route button clicks through the existing 1x–3x, 5% stepped zoom state without dismissing the viewer, including clicks on SVG icon descendants. - Extract the zoom toolbar so `markdown.tsx` remains below the repository file-size threshold. ### Testing - `pnpm build:e2e` - `pnpm exec playwright test image-attachment-gallery.spec.ts --project=smoke` — 10 passed - `pnpm typecheck` - Full desktop unit suite — 5,397 passed - Pre-push checks — file-size gate, desktop checks, typecheck, and desktop tests passed - `git diff --check` ### UI evidence The rendered lightbox flow is covered by the gallery smoke test: Zoom out is disabled at 100%, Zoom in changes the value to 105%, Zoom out returns it to 100%, and the dialog remains open throughout. Existing gallery, keyboard, spoiler, context-menu, and close-path assertions also pass. --------- Signed-off-by: sanic <c57bf9b4275088b2b33db7f746975407210f159fbd8bd733c0e532375f69aa80@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Signed-off-by: Kalvin Chau <kalvin@block.xyz> Co-authored-by: sanic <c57bf9b4275088b2b33db7f746975407210f159fbd8bd733c0e532375f69aa80@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: peon <9ac6794b000690b7e814eb1805ad32405d0bec7d52838de3a86cf967565dacc0@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

fix(desktop): polish inline chip states (#6718)
**Category:** fix **User Impact:** Inline chips now read more consistently, fit cleanly in the composer, and show deleted message links with the same calm muted treatment as unresolved links. **Problem:** Deleted message links looked like destructive actions even though they are informational, while mention chips had slightly uneven vertical spacing, a high-set human icon, and could clip inside the composer. **Solution:** Unify unavailable-state styling, tighten chip spacing, optically align the human icon, and give composer chips enough line height to paint without changing caret behavior. <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/markdown.css** Makes chip padding vertically symmetric, moves only the human `@` icon down by 1px, and shares muted colors between deleted and unresolved message links while preserving their separate semantic classes. **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/composer.css** Adds a composer-only line height derived from the text size and chip padding so inline chips no longer clip while retaining inline caret behavior. **desktop/tests/e2e/entity-link-recipient-cards.spec.ts** Verifies deleted and unresolved chips have matching computed colors while deleted links retain their tooltip, semantics, and navigation behavior. **desktop/tests/e2e/mentions.spec.ts** Covers composer chip height, clipping, the human icon's 1px optical offset, and visual capture. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Open a channel containing a link to a definitively deleted message and compare it with a transient or unresolved message link; both should use the muted unavailable treatment, while the deleted link still says “Message deleted” and navigates to its fallback destination. 2. Insert a person mention in the composer; the chip should have balanced vertical spacing and paint fully without clipping. 3. fix(composer): wrap Buzz chip labels without orphaning icons (#6581)
**Category:** fix **User Impact:** Long Buzz link chips now wrap without overflowing in composers and sent messages; icon-bearing stubs use at most five graphemes when no earlier separator exists, so some sent chips attach the icon to a shorter prefix than before. Labels over 48 graphemes are visibly truncated in the composer while their full identity remains available to assistive technology and in the tooltip. **Problem:** Long repository, issue, pull request, and channel chip labels could orphan their icon or overflow narrow composers and sent messages. **Solution:** Keep the icon with a bounded, grapheme-safe leading fragment while allowing the remaining text to break anywhere; cap visible labels at 48 graphemes without changing the full tooltip or accessible identity. <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **desktop/src/features/messages/lib/composerMessageLinkNode.ts** Splits composer chip content into an icon-bearing leading fragment and a freely wrapping remainder while preserving the semantic label and link metadata. **desktop/src/features/messages/lib/composerMessageLinkNode.test.mjs** Updates renderer assertions for the fragment structure and verifies every supported Buzz link kind retains the intended visible label. **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/composer.css** Keeps ordinary composer mention decorations inline while relying on the existing shared markdown chip wrapping rules for Buzz links. **desktop/src/shared/ui/mentionChip.ts** Centralizes grapheme-aware leading-fragment boundaries and label truncation so composer and sent chips share the same visible identity. **desktop/src/shared/ui/markdown/BuzzLinkChip.tsx** Uses the shared grapheme-aware boundary when rendering sent-message chip fragments. **desktop/tests/e2e/navigation.spec.ts** Covers increasing wrap depth across constrained widths, icon attachment, the sent-message wrap, accessible labeling, and tooltip positioning over both edge fragments. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Open a desktop channel and paste a Buzz link with a long repository or channel name into the composer. 2. Narrow the composer until the chip spans two or more lines. 3. Confirm the label breaks mid-string while the icon remains attached to the first label fragment. 4. Send the message, hover both the first and last rendered fragments, and confirm the tooltip follows the hovered fragment. ## Screenshots **Before — the icon drops onto a separate line from its chip label** **After — the icon stays attached while the remaining label wraps** The same long repository chip at three composer widths. fix(messages): route edits to the owning composer (#6575)
**Category:** fix **User Impact:** Editing a channel message now opens in the main composer, while editing a thread reply stays in the thread composer, with focus ready for typing. **Problem:** When a thread was open, Buzz treated its root message as thread-owned and opened edits in the thread composer. Menu-driven edits also lacked regression coverage for immediate focus. **Solution:** Carry the message's semantic root/reply classification into the edit target, route only actual replies to the thread composer, and use the menu primitive's selection event for a reliable handoff. End-to-end tests cover placement and focus for both paths. <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **desktop/src/features/channels/ui/ChannelPane.tsx** Routes edit targets by semantic thread ownership rather than membership in the open thread panel. **desktop/src/features/channels/ui/ChannelPane.types.ts** Uses the shared composer edit-target type so routing metadata stays attached to the target. **desktop/src/features/messages/lib/draftMentionRefs.ts** Classifies each edit target as a root or true thread reply from its event tags. **desktop/src/features/messages/lib/draftMentionRefs.test.mjs** Covers semantic ownership for root and reply edit targets. **desktop/src/features/messages/ui/MessageActionBar.tsx** Handles Edit through the dropdown menu's selection event so focus restoration and edit startup share the intended lifecycle. **desktop/src/features/messages/ui/MessageComposer.types.ts** Adds semantic thread ownership to the edit-target contract. **desktop/tests/e2e/messaging.spec.ts** Verifies root edits use and focus the main composer, while reply edits use and focus the thread composer. </details> ### Reproduction Steps 1. Send a channel message and open its thread. 2. From the thread panel, edit the root message; confirm its content loads in the main composer and the editor is focused. 3. Send a reply in that thread. 4. Edit the reply; confirm its content loads in the thread composer and the editor is focused. ### Screenshots **Editing a channel-root message uses the main composer** **Editing an actual thread reply uses the thread composer** --------- Signed-off-by: Taylor Ho <taylorkmho@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Rizz <302abe414ca6e3134763d2539bfcf145aea2a63fe5f8455204ed602fd40cf381@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Carl <acda9e433d19dcd0e6b6840f7f4b98f3a56f1fab98049d444c087019e6d36560@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

fix(desktop): emit singular mention feed category so alerts route correctly (#6665)
## Problem Mentions — and thread replies that @-mention you — played the **Needs action** sound instead of the **@Mentions** sound. Reported by @morgmart: "I set Needs action to a different sound and it's the only one I ever hear." ## Root cause Two vocabularies got conflated in #475: - **Section / filter vocabulary** (plural): `mentions`, `needs_action`, `activity`, `agent_activity` — the shape of `FeedSections`, the `--types` filter, and the agent-facing CLI docs. - **Per-item category vocabulary** (singular for mention): `mention`, `needs_action`, `activity`, `agent_activity` — the `FeedItemCategory` contract in `desktop/src/shared/api/types.ts`, unchanged since #12. The Tauri feed builder reused the filter string `"mentions"` as each mention item's `category`. Only one word differs between the vocabularies, so only mentions broke. Every frontend consumer compares against the singular, so real mentions never matched and fell through to the resolver's `needs_action` fallback. The E2E mock bridge emits the singular form, so tests never saw the drift. ### Symptoms this fixes (all from the one mislabel) - Mentions and mentioning thread replies played the Needs-action sound - Mention notifications used the Needs-action title format - Mentions in muted channels were suppressed (the mute-bypass never fired) - Inbox / Home feed labelled mentions "Channel update" - Channel activity popover's mentions list was always empty ## Fix **Fix the owner, not the symptoms.** `FeedItemInfo.category` becomes a `FeedItemCategory` enum whose serde form is exactly the TS union, so a misspelled category can't compile at the producer. A serialization test pins each variant to its wire string. **Frontend:** `slotForFeedKind` maps every known category explicitly. The `needs_action` fallback for unknown categories is **kept on purpose** — a contract drift should cost the user the wrong sound, not a missed alert — but it now `console.warn`s so the drift is visible to developers instead of masquerading as intended behavior. `e2eBridge.ts` and `tauri.ts` now derive the category type from `types.ts` instead of retyping it. Not touched: the plural `--types` filter and `FeedSections` keys. Those are the section vocabulary and are correct as-is. ## Verification - `just ci` green (file-size ratchet, Rust/Tauri/desktop/mobile tests, desktop + web builds) - New tests: 2 Rust (`feed_item_category_serializes_to_frontend_contract`, `feed_item_from_event_carries_singular_mention_category`), 3 TS in `sound.test.mjs` incl. one that feeds the old `"mentions"` string and asserts fallback + warning - **Runtime, dev build against the production relay:** controlled test from an agent identity into a test channel — - mention in channel → @Mentions sound, inbox shows "Mentioned in" ✅ (was Needs-action) - thread reply with mention → @Mentions sound, once ✅ (was Needs-action) - plain thread reply in the channel being viewed → silent, as designed ✅ ## Reviewers - @tlongwell-block — #475 introduced the plural category; please confirm it wasn't intentional - @wesbillman — owner of the original `FeedItemCategory` contract (#12) and most of the feed builder - @taylorkmho — owner of the sound-slot model and resolver (#968); the fallback-with-warning shape is the part to weigh in on - cc @klopez4212 --------- Signed-off-by: morgmart <98432065+morgmart@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com> |

show mention counts in channel notifications (#6696)
**Category:** fix **User Impact:** Stream and forum channels now show an accessible numeric badge for unread mentions while mention chips remain clear in every theme. **Problem:** Mention notifications contributed to the app and Dock badge, but inactive stream and forum rows only became bold, making it difficult to see where multiple mentions were waiting. Mention styling and generic destructive colors could also lose contrast or visual meaning in some themes. **Solution:** Use the same app-badge projection for non-DM channel mention counts, while preserving regular unread bolding, thread activity dots, DM counts, and manual unread behavior. Dedicated notification and opaque mention-highlight tokens keep the new treatments stable and readable across syntax themes. <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **desktop/src/features/channels/useUnreadChannels.ts** Projects app-badge-eligible mention and broadcast counts into stream and forum channel rows while retaining DM-specific counting and manual-unread semantics. **desktop/src/features/sidebar/ui/SidebarSection.tsx** Renders an accessible numeric notification pill on inactive non-DM channels and preserves the thread activity dot fallback. **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/markdown.css** Applies the shared opaque yellow highlight to human and agent mention chips, including hover treatment. **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/theme.css** Adds fixed notification and mention-highlight tokens with theme-independent contrast. **desktop/tailwind.config.js** Exposes the notification token pair through semantic Tailwind utilities. **desktop/tests/e2e/badge.spec.ts** Covers aggregated mention counts, broadcasts, unchanged unread tiers, exact accessible text, and badge contrast under an adversarial theme. **desktop/tests/e2e/mentions.spec.ts** Covers human and agent mention styling, hover behavior, dark mode, and WCAG text contrast. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Open a stream or forum channel, then navigate to another channel. 2. Receive two messages that mention you in the inactive channel. 3. Confirm the inactive row is bold and shows a red `2` pill matching the two notifications added to the app or Dock badge. 4. Receive a regular channel message and confirm the row only becomes bold, without a numeric pill. 5. Receive a reply in an interested thread and confirm the channel retains its activity dot instead of a mention count. 6. Switch between light and dark themes and confirm human and agent mention chips remain yellow with near-black readable text, including on hover. ## Screenshots Screenshots are posted in the PR discussion using immutable repository-hosted image URLs. fix(desktop): stabilize members dialog scrolling (#6670)
## Summary - Keep virtualized member rows measurable by removing `content-visibility: auto` from the measured row subtree. - Use the member card's 60px baseline as the virtualizer estimate while retaining deferred rendering for eager search and archived-member lists. - Cover large rosters with a regression test that checks stable scroll extent across the list and verifies the final member remains reachable. ### Related issue None found. ### Testing - `just ci` - `pnpm -C desktop build:e2e` - `pnpm -C desktop exec playwright test tests/e2e/channels.spec.ts --grep 'members sidebar virtualizes large channel rosters' --repeat-each=5` #### Before https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/a5fcc040-6872-4200-bcc3-7b4197a4dd23 #### After https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/f2c97f2f-3719-4c2a-b17a-2450c6c70a55 Signed-off-by: Matt Toohey <contact@matttoohey.com> |

perf(desktop): persist channel heads, collapse thread reads and reply sends (#6572)
## Summary
Lands the build-now items from the desktop latency plan
(#ui-performance-deep-dive) as one change. Every perceived-latency hot
path a user hits on launch, channel open, thread open, and reply send
drops one or more round trips.
**A1 — persisted channel heads (the big one).** Native WAL SQLite cache
(`desktop/src-tauri/src/channel_head_cache.rs`) keyed by `{pubkey,
relayUrl}` scope, 32 rows/scope LRU, 1 MiB per-row drop cap,
schema-version reset, corrupt-row tolerance, checkpointed on shutdown.
Three blocking-pool commands: `channel_head_cache_load` / `_store` /
`_clear`. On the renderer side, `CommunityQueryProvider` kicks off
hydration of up to 12 heads when it constructs the query client — the
app, splash and relay preconnect mount immediately; only
`useChannelMessagesQuery` awaits the seed (`channelHeadHydration`), then
consumes a one-shot hydrated gate so a hydrated channel pays **zero**
`get_channel_window` calls on mount and exactly **one** on the
post-subscription refresh, whose response replaces page zero wholesale.
That refresh fires whether live-subscription setup succeeds or fails,
and is sequenced behind hydration so it is always a distinct
authoritative fetch (see Review follow-ups). Bounds-only persisted heads
(zero rows) are not hydrated and take the cold loading path. The
timeline loading latch recognizes native-hydrated rows as restart-safe
so they paint immediately instead of holding a skeleton. The cache is a
paint accelerator only — the relay response is always authoritative.
Replaces the legacy localStorage `messageSnapshot.ts` (removed, -401
lines).
Kill switch: `VITE_BUZZ_CHANNEL_HEAD_CACHE=off` at build time or
`localStorage["buzz-channel-head-cache"] = "off"` at runtime. Cache is
cleared on community removal and scoped per identity, so a replaced
signer never sees the previous identity's rows.
**B1 — thread aux in one response.** Relay thread filters accept
`include_aux`; the bridge appends the same authorized two-hop
reactions/edits/deletions closure a channel window gets
(`build_aux_query` shared with the window path). Renderer
`useThreadReplies` drops its two follow-up aux fetches. `next_cursor` is
computed from reply-kind rows only since aux rows are unpaged.
Documented in `docs/bridge-channel-window.md`. Thread queries keep
`staleTime: 0` (`bcfe04e2f`): an earlier revision raised it to 30s,
which CI's `thread-unread.spec.ts` caught — once the user leaves a
channel, the live subscription stops feeding that thread's cache, so a
reopen must always take the (now single) authoritative read.
**B2 — cached root on reply send.** `send_channel_message` gains
`root_event_id`; when the renderer already holds the parent (channel or
thread cache) it passes the NIP-10 root, and native signs without the
relay round trip that `resolve_thread_ref` used to make. Strict hex
parse; `root_event_id` requires `parent_event_id`; absent root falls
back to the existing relay resolution. The renderer never sends a
guessed root.
**B4** general HTTP pool idle 10s→300s, max idle per host 1→2. **B5**
relay preconnect fires as soon as identity is ready instead of waiting
for `requestIdleCallback`. One e2e test (`relay-reconnect.spec.ts`
"service restart close resets accumulated backoff") had been relying on
the idle-callback batching to skip past its own seeded dial failures
before the channel list painted; `8133d70bb` makes it wait for the
connected state instead (test-only, still fails with the 1012 backoff
reset disabled). **B6** profile freshness 60s→10 min (both the in-memory
entry check and the query `staleTime`). Tradeoff: another user's
display-name/avatar edit can take up to 10 min to propagate to a client
that already holds their profile (relay reconnect refetches
`users-batch` but resolves from the still-fresh per-pubkey entry); your
own edits still evict the entry immediately (`evictUsersBatchEntries` in
`useUpdateProfileMutation`).

### Review follow-ups
Addressing Carl's reviews
[5001114109](https://github.com/block/buzz/pull/6572#pullrequestreview-5001114109)
and
[5002596542](https://github.com/block/buzz/pull/6572#pullrequestreview-5002596542),
each pushed as new commits (no rebase):
- `4f06b7770` fix(desktop): mount app while channel heads hydrate;
always revalidate — provider no longer gates children on the cache load;
`refreshAfterSubscribe` runs on subscribe failure too; bounds-only heads
skipped at seed; seed merges into an existing window store. +3 tests.
- `35834cb31` fix(relay): drain aux closure hops across the page clamp —
`query_all_pages` walks the `(created_at, id)` keyset via
`until`/`before_id` until a short page (`AUX_PAGE_LIMIT` =
`DEFAULT_MAX_PAGE_LIMIT`, `AUX_MAX_PAGES` = 64 warn+truncate) so
one-shot `limit: 1000` newest-first no longer drops the oldest
edits/deletions. +3 tests; `docs/bridge-channel-window.md` updated.
- `db21b0531` merge of `origin/main` `e23632941` (#6558, #6312 — no
overlap).
- `5a5566c0f` fix(desktop): sequence post-subscribe refresh behind
channel head hydration — `refreshChannelWindowMessages` awaits
`channelHeadHydration()` and, for a hydration-seeded query (`data !==
undefined && dataUpdatedAt === 0`), the in-flight snapshot fetch before
invalidating. Without this, a subscription that settles before the
SQLite load invalidated a data-less in-flight query; TanStack dedupes
that onto the existing fetch (`query-core` `fetch()` only cancels when
`state.data` exists), which returned the seeded snapshot — 0
authoritative fetches. Regression test reproduces Carl's exact ordering
(fails at `35834cb31` with 0 calls), plus a cold-channel guard that the
fix does not double-fetch.
- `b129231c8` fix(desktop): let concurrent post-hydration refreshes
share one window fetch — found independently by Max and Wren reviewing
`5a5566c0f`: subscribe settlement + reconnect both wake on the same
snapshot promise and both invalidate; the second (default
`cancelRefetch: true`) cancelled and replaced the first authoritative
fetch (3 queryFn calls, not 2, and the cancelled Tauri invoke still hits
the relay). The seeded branch now invalidates with `cancelRefetch:
false` so a second waker joins the in-flight fetch; cold/warm keep the
default (`test_canceled_stale_fetch_cannot_overwrite_catch_up_window`
relies on it). Concurrent regression test fails at `5a5566c0f` with 3.

perf(desktop): make the Projects surface render-cheap (#6460)
Diagnostic profiling on a large community (101 issues, 258 PRs) showed Projects tab switches taking 2.5–3.6s, dominated by single React commits of 0.5–1.5s and per-render recomputation — fetch work was already off the main thread; the cost was building the UI. ### Measured: tab click → painted, per tab | tab | before | after | |---|---|---:| | projects | 3,608ms | 320–580ms | | repositories | 3,126–3,534ms | 310–410ms | | tasks | 395–1,101ms | ~115ms | | reviews | 322–2,603ms | ~96ms | | activity | 597–741ms | ~148ms | Single-commit ceiling dropped from 1,541ms to ≤200ms (growth steps 25–40ms). Fixes in profiled-cost order: - **Profile popover body mounts only while open.** `UserProfilePopover` carried seven query subscriptions plus interaction hooks per instance even when closed; grids mount hundreds (five per card in people stacks, one per row author) — measured **~40ms per card**, the dominant share of the 1.2s card-tab commits. The always-mounted shell is now just the Radix root + trigger; trigger markup, hover timing, and keyboard handling are unchanged, and hover/tooltip event continuity is preserved because the trigger never remounts. - **Incremental row mounting.** The first 12 cards / 30 rows render in the first commit; the rest stream in 36–60-per-frame low-priority transitions. Grouped lists trim across group boundaries via a pure, tested slicer; the mounted count survives in-place refetches. - **Activity feed**: was rebuilt unmemoized on every render, markdown-flattening every issue/PR/comment body in the community just to sort and keep 30 items (~360+ flattens per render on the measured community). Now memoized, and bodies stay raw until after the sort+slice — 30 flattens, once per data change. - **Contribution graph** (always-visible rail, so every tab paid for it): ~180 day cells each wrapped in a Radix tooltip with per-cell Intl date formatting per render. Now memoized, cells precomputed once per data change, native `title` tooltips. (The activity-bar segments keep their styled Radix tooltips — pinned by an existing spec.) - **Rows/cards memoized with identity-stable props**: per-row selection arrays were rebuilt per row per render (O(n²) — 258 PRs × 258-item arrays each render) and are now hoisted and shared; people arrays derive inside the memoized cards; the rail's stat walk over every issue/PR is memoized. - **`content-visibility: auto`** on cards and rows so offscreen entries skip layout and paint; **tab switches run in a React transition** so the click stays responsive while the new tree mounts. Remaining known cost (out of scope): cold-entry data readiness — the work-item and activity queries ship thousands of events to compute counts (2–4s on a large community; see the fan-lifecycle PR). The structural fix is a relay-side aggregate; tracked as follow-up. --------- Signed-off-by: Max Lampert <maxwell@squareup.com> |

Mention another agent inline, send successfully, and confirm the agent becomes automatically addressed; use the notification's Undo action to reverse it. 4. Open a thread in the same channel and confirm the same addressed agents are available there. 5. Remove an agent from the composer control and confirm later messages stop addressing it. 6. Switch communities and confirm addressed agents do not carry into the other community. ## Screenshots All states below use the dark Buzz theme with a selected lilac accent. ### Addressed composer Selected agents stay visible at the composer ingress without adding handles to the draft. ### Open mention menu The @ ingress opens the existing mention menu and shows which agents are already addressed. ### Mention options The inline options pane controls whether a successful one-time agent mention carries into later messages. ### Agent settings The same preference is available in **Settings → Agents → Conversations**. --------- Signed-off-by: Taylor Ho <taylorkmho@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Rizz <302abe414ca6e3134763d2539bfcf145aea2a63fe5f8455204ed602fd40cf381@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Carl <acda9e433d19dcd0e6b6840f7f4b98f3a56f1fab98049d444c087019e6d36560@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

fix(desktop): remove Buzz entity link previews (#6512)
**Category:** improvement **User Impact:** Buzz-native project, repository, issue, and pull request links now appear once as compact inline chips, with their details available on hover. **Problem:** Buzz-native entity links rendered both an inline chip and a standalone preview card, repeating the same metadata and adding visual noise to conversations. **Solution:** Exclude Buzz-native links from the shared standalone-preview extractor while leaving entity parsing intact for chip tooltips and preserving external web previews and attachment cards. <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **desktop/src/shared/lib/linkPreview.ts** Stops Buzz-native preview candidates after parsing, including same-relay git clone URLs that normalize to repository entities, while allowing external URLs through the existing snapshot path. **desktop/src/shared/lib/linkPreview.test.mjs** Covers project, repository, issue, pull request, markdown-labeled, same-relay clone, and mixed external-link extraction behavior. **desktop/src/shared/ui/markdown/useMessageLinkPreviews.test.mjs** Confirms sent messages no longer merge a standalone Buzz entity card while external sender snapshots still render. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Open a desktop channel containing a `buzz://project`, `buzz://repo`, `buzz://issue`, or `buzz://pr` link. 2. Confirm the link renders as an inline entity chip without a second standalone Buzz card below the message. 3. Hover the chip and confirm its entity metadata remains available. 4. Post an external HTTPS link and confirm its web preview still renders. 5. Paste a same-relay `/git/<owner>/<repo>` clone URL and confirm it uses the repository chip without a duplicate card. ## Screenshots | Before | After | | --- | --- | | Inline chip plus redundant standalone Project card | Inline chip is now the sole presentation | | | | **After — rich metadata stays available on hover** ## Verification At commit `3fa74cdd342ac1f6721b7d56a7f111af31e0e6e9`: - focused link-preview + Markdown unit suites — 119/119 passed - targeted registered smoke E2E — 8/8 passed, including labeled same-relay clone metadata, ordinary-link presentation, and in-app navigation - `cd desktop && pnpm exec tsc --noEmit` — passed - `git diff --check origin/main...HEAD` — passed - pre-push hooks — desktop check, TypeScript, and full desktop unit suite passed --------- Signed-off-by: Rizz <302abe414ca6e3134763d2539bfcf145aea2a63fe5f8455204ed602fd40cf381@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Signed-off-by: Taylor Ho <taylorkmho@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Rizz <302abe414ca6e3134763d2539bfcf145aea2a63fe5f8455204ed602fd40cf381@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> Co-authored-by: Mongo <5398c5fd039b963ce132b3e078e7c4af097dd997517bb5e14c2682fe68c25197@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

fix(desktop): restore true zoom by scaling the root rem (#6514)
## Summary Follow-up to #5644. Cmd +/- had become a text-only zoom: type scaled while rem-based padding, gaps, widths, avatars, and controls stayed frozen, which produced cramped layouts (see [#buzz-frontend thread](buzz://message?channel=a410ffde-c61f-416a-96e0-c296b5f5ecc9&id=1a758115cf07b00c097f6e988553908c045165325a57637519cfa7ed9c9accec)). Root cause: #5644 introduced a virtual typography rem so the **Font size** preference could change text without moving layout — a good decoupling — but it also routed **Cmd +/- zoom** through that same px-valued token and pinned the real root at 16px. One decision ("freeze layout") was applied to two dials that shouldn't share it. This PR gives each dial one owner and lets CSS compose them: | Control | Changes | How | |---|---|---| | **Cmd +/- zoom** | Everything — true zoom | Scales the real `<html>` font-size again (`useWebviewZoomShortcuts`) | | **Font size preference** | Text only | Sets `data-font-size`; `typography.css` maps it to a unitless `--buzz-type-scale`, mirroring how density already works | `--buzz-type-rem` becomes `calc(1rem * var(--buzz-type-scale))` — rem-relative, so it rides on zoom automatically. Resulting text px = `16 × zoom × scale × token-ratio`. The 13 / 14 / 15px conversation contract is unchanged at default zoom. Density and the type ramp from #5644 are untouched. The preference module no longer does px math or knows about zoom; the zoom hook no longer imports the preference module. Net deletion in production code. ## Validation - `pnpm test` — 5,308 desktop unit tests - `pnpm check:px-text`, `tsc --noEmit`, biome - Playwright: `top-chrome-zoom-clearance.spec.ts` (native-chrome clearance stays fixed under root zoom), `inbox-refactor-screenshots.spec.ts` (zoomed row padding now asserts `4.4px` instead of the frozen `4px`), and both `profile.spec.ts` zoom tests (composed zoom × preference, cross-window storage reset) - Before/after screenshots at 140% zoom in the comment below --------- Signed-off-by: morgmart <98432065+morgmart@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com> |

perf(desktop): stop the Projects fan refetching on re-entry and running after leave (#6458)
Entering Projects fires a large fan: an exhaustive paginated relay enumeration (projects/repos/tombstones), five 2,000-event work-item queries plus assignment-operation scans, per-repo activity summaries, and a local-repository filesystem scan. Measured on a large community (101 issues / 258 PRs): | query | measured cost | |---|---| | work-items (5 × 2,000-event REQs + assignment scans) | 3.5–3.9s | | activity summaries | 4.1s | | repository activity | 1.0–2.2s | | local repository scan | 1.7s | Two lifecycle bugs made the fan far more expensive than it needs to be: - **Freshness windows guaranteed a full refetch on nearly every re-entry** (60s enumeration, 30s work-items/activity, 10s local scan) — i.e., the costs above were re-paid on almost every visit. Every local write path already invalidates its keys explicitly (issue/PR mutations, project creation, repo sync), so the short windows only served remote-actor freshness. Raised to 5m/2m/2m with a 30m enumeration cache: re-entries now paint from cache, and the fan re-runs at most every 2–5 minutes. - **Leaving Projects left the whole fan running**, competing with the next surface's channel fetches on the same relay connection. AbortSignal is now threaded through the enumeration and assignment pagination loops (optional params — behavior identical without a signal), and leaving the surface cancels the work-items query. Deliberately NOT cancelled: the enumeration (the always-mounted sidebar projects section observes it and its 30m cache is valuable), repo snapshots and local scans (native work that can't abort — cancelling would discard the finished result and force the same clones again), and activity summaries (a single bounded request). Abort behavior is covered by red-first unit tests on both pagination loops. Remaining follow-up (out of scope): the queries themselves want a relay-side aggregate instead of shipping thousands of events to compute counts client-side. --------- Signed-off-by: Max Lampert <maxwell@squareup.com> |

perf(desktop): keep the member roster off the channel-switch path (#6456)
Switching channels triggered a full-roster fetch (kind:39002 plus a kind:0 profile batch with every member pubkey as an author) in the common case, and several render paths walked the full roster per render. None of this scales past a few hundred members; the product target is 10k+. - **Members query staleTime 30s → 5min.** Every membership change the client can observe already invalidates the key explicitly: live join/leave system messages for the active channel, member-added/removed notifications for the current identity, and all membership mutations — including previously-uncovered direct write paths (moderation kick, agent-deletion cleanup), which now invalidate through a shared helper. The 30s window bought correctness we already had and charged a roster fetch per switch. - **ChannelMembersBar no longer mounts the roster query for non-DM channels** — the count renders from the channel summary, and the private-channel huddle gate accepts `channel.isMember` (derived from the same kind:39002 event as the roster's self entry). - **Roster-derived lookups are cached on roster identity** (`rosterDerivations.ts`): role map, agent-member subset, member/bot pubkey sets. These were rebuilt O(members) on every live message / profile re-key. React Query's structural sharing keeps the roster identity stable, so each derivation computes once per distinct roster. - **Backend: the kind:0 profile join in `get_channel_members` is capped at the first 500 members** (roster order). Members past the cap keep `display_name: None` (UI falls back to pubkey labels and profile caches); `role=="bot"` agent flags are roster-derived and unaffected. Full roster pagination is the structural follow-up. - **Composer keystroke path**: `useCanAddChannelMembers` re-scanned channels + roster per keystroke; now memoized on data identities, sharing the cached pubkey set. ### Measured / estimated impact | metric | before | after | |---|---|---| | roster fetches while switching (live trace) | nearly every switch | ≤1 per channel per 5 min | | roster fetch cost on the wire (live, 51-member channel) | 273ms per fetch | amortized away | | kind:0 `authors` filter size at 10k members | ~670KB per request (~67 B/pubkey) | capped at 500 authors (~34KB) | | warm-switch longtask at 10k members (mock harness, 4× throttle) | 364ms | 318ms | | per-render roster walks (role map, agent sets) at 10k members | O(members) per live message | once per distinct roster | Deferred deliberately: protocol-level roster pagination and removing `memberPubkeys` from channel summaries (needs relay support). --------- Signed-off-by: Max Lampert <maxwell@squareup.com> |

polish(desktop): finish Projects navigation and context chrome (#6429)
## Summary After #6396, Projects still split chrome across the workspace header, a copy-link control, and a labeled Actions group that mixed people, create, and metadata. This PR finishes that surface: the right-hand context box is unlabeled actions plus a Details group, people stacks and contribution heatmaps are gone from that box, Create review sits with Create task, and the top chrome is terminal / chat / info with no copy-link. Sent project context collapses to a pill, and review file diffs keep the last good git view instead of flashing empty while queries refetch. This also lands the remaining navigation polish that followed Part 3: overview and list presentation, readme and commit layout, and opening the latest matching conversation from the Channels tab without leaving the project. ### Related issue N/A. Related: #6396 ## Testing - Walked Files, Tasks, Reviews, task/review detail, overview tabs, and chrome chat vs info in the running desktop app - Pre-push: desktop typecheck, unit tests, Tauri checks, and file-size gate passed - Updated Projects smoke specs for the new context groups, Create review, chrome order, and removed copy-link control - Merged current `origin/main`; one conflict in discussion-channel rows kept conversation-panel navigation and took main's bounded channel-name lookup ## Post-Deploy Monitoring & Validation - validate Projects workspace chrome, context box, and review file diffs in the first staging Desktop session - healthy signals: context box shows unlabeled actions then Details, chat toggle sits between terminal and info, review diffs stay populated across selection changes - failure signals: missing Create review, restored heatmap/people in the context box, or empty Files Changed while the review is still selected; mitigate by reverting this PR --------- Signed-off-by: Thomas Petersen <thomasp@squareup.com> |

feat(desktop-messages): show compact Buzz link metadata (#6252)
**Category:** improvement **User Impact:** Buzz links in messages now resolve into compact, descriptive chips with predictable navigation, while tooltips use the neutral secondary surface consistently across light and dark themes. **Problem:** Raw Buzz-native links and opaque identifiers make message context difficult to scan, while oversized previews disrupt the conversation. Missing, delayed, or deleted metadata also needs a stable presentation that does not mislead users or break navigation. **Solution:** Keep message and issue chips metadata-independent: message chips render only the channel name, while issue chips render only the repository name—never fetched content/title or an event hash. Fetched context remains available in each hover tooltip. Other native links continue to resolve into concise inline labels, with muted secondary fallbacks, distinct deleted states, and existing navigation paths preserved. This also makes two explicit shared-tooltip behavior changes: 1. **Color:** shared and rich tooltips move from the primary color pair to the neutral secondary semantic pair, including dedicated huddle-token handling and matching rich-descendant foregrounds. 2. **Hover behavior:** tooltip roots set Radix `disableHoverableContent`, and tooltip content is pointer-transparent, so moving off the trigger dismisses the tooltip instead of letting the pointer enter and keep the popover open. Together these preserve readable contrast, authoritative project context, and predictable hover dismissal. <details> <summary>File changes</summary> **desktop/src/features/communities/useCommunityInit.ts** Primes channel metadata needed to resolve native links promptly. **desktop/src/features/messages/lib/messageLinkMetadata.test.mjs** Covers message preview extraction, fallbacks, and deleted-message semantics. **desktop/src/features/messages/lib/messageLinkMetadata.ts** Normalizes fetched message metadata into compact labels and status-aware presentation. **desktop/src/features/messages/ui/SentFromThreadLine.tsx** Provides thread context to linked-message metadata resolution. **desktop/src/shared/lib/useResolvedLinkPreviews.ts** Exposes resolved preview state for native entity chips. **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/markdown.css** Adds compact chip layout and semantic disabled-state styling. **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/theme.css** Defines the semantic colors used by unavailable and deleted chips. **desktop/src/shared/ui/markdown.test.mjs** Exercises native-link rendering and provider-backed entity metadata behavior. **desktop/src/shared/ui/markdown.tsx** Routes native markdown links through metadata-aware chip components without changing navigation contracts. **desktop/src/shared/ui/markdown/ChannelDeepLink.test.mjs** Covers resolved, unresolved, private, archived, and forum channel presentations. **desktop/src/shared/ui/markdown/ChannelDeepLink.tsx** Renders channel names and concise channel metadata inline with stable fallbacks. **desktop/src/shared/ui/markdown/MessageLinkPill.tsx** Renders loading, ready, unavailable, DM, forum, and deleted message states compactly. **desktop/src/shared/ui/markdown/entityLinks.tsx** Enriches repository, issue, and pull-request chips and uses containing-project context in tooltips. **desktop/src/shared/ui/markdown/types.ts** Extends markdown runtime metadata required by native chip rendering. **desktop/src/shared/ui/markdown/useMessageLinkMetadata.ts** Fetches and classifies linked-message metadata while preserving navigable fallbacks. **desktop/src/testing/e2eBridge.ts** Adds deterministic metadata controls for runtime visual and navigation tests. **desktop/tailwind.config.js** Makes semantic disabled colors available to chip styles. **desktop/tests/e2e/entity-link-recipient-cards.spec.ts** Verifies entity labels, project-aware tooltips, delayed metadata, and navigation behavior. **desktop/tests/e2e/navigation.spec.ts** Verifies channel and message chip states, metadata resolution, deletion handling, and navigation. **desktop/src/shared/ui/tooltip.tsx** Migrates the shared tooltip surface from the primary color pair to the semantic secondary pair. It also sets Radix `disableHoverableContent` and makes tooltip content pointer-transparent so leaving the trigger dismisses the tooltip predictably. **desktop/src/features/agents/ui/RestartDiffBadge.tsx** Aligns restart-diff tooltip values and supporting copy with the secondary tooltip foreground. **desktop/src/features/channels/ui/AddChannelBotTeamsSection.tsx** Aligns rich team tooltip descriptions, persona chips, avatars, and names with secondary tooltip semantics. **desktop/src/features/projects/ui/ProjectAuthorIdentity.tsx** Uses the matching secondary tooltip foreground for project author metadata. **desktop/src/features/projects/ui/ProjectCards.tsx** Aligns repository-unavailable tooltip descriptions with the secondary tooltip foreground. **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/utilities.css** Makes huddle tooltips consume their dedicated palette directly without misleading primary or secondary aliases. **desktop/src/shared/styles/globals/tooltipSemantics.test.mjs** Pins direct huddle-token consumption and rejects semantic alias drift. **desktop/tests/e2e/tooltip-semantics.spec.ts** Verifies simple and rich tooltip surfaces and descendant tokens in Buzz light and Catppuccin Mocha dark themes. **desktop/playwright.config.ts** Registers tooltip semantic coverage in the desktop smoke suite. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Run the desktop app and open a message containing Buzz links for a channel, message, repository, issue, and pull request. 2. Confirm message links show only the channel name and issue links show only the repository name inline, with no fetched content/title or event hash; confirm other native links remain compact rather than rendering raw identifiers or expanded previews. 3. Hover the chips and confirm the neutral secondary tooltip adds concise context without duplicating the visible label. 4. Open each chip and confirm it follows the same channel, message, repository, issue, or pull-request navigation as before. 5. Inspect links while metadata is loading, unavailable, or definitively deleted and confirm the fallback remains compact, legible, and navigable where appropriate. 6. In Buzz light and Catppuccin Mocha dark themes, compare a simple channel-members tooltip and the rich Add agents team tooltip; both should use secondary semantics with readable nested content. 7. Move the pointer from a trigger toward its tooltip; confirm the tooltip dismisses rather than remaining open as hoverable content. ## Screenshots The matrix below covers both the default light theme and Catppuccin Mocha with an orange accent. Message/issue-chip rows affected by the stable-label pivot are temporarily omitted until they can be recaptured from the real built UI; the prior images showed the obsolete expanding inline label. | State | Default light | Dark · orange accent | |---|---|---| | Public stream channel tooltip | | | | Private forum channel tooltip | | | | Public forum channel tooltip | | | | Channel references, including unresolved | | | | Unknown channel permalink | | | | Archived channel tooltip | | | | Repository entity | | | | Pull request entity | | | | Entity metadata fallback | | | ### Tooltip semantic surface spot check | Buzz light | Catppuccin Mocha dark | |---|---| | | | --------- Signed-off-by: Taylor Ho <taylorkmho@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Carl <acda9e433d19dcd0e6b6840f7f4b98f3a56f1fab98049d444c087019e6d36560@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

perf(desktop): split discover_acp_providers into cheap and forced paths (#6330)
Splits the `discover_acp_providers` Tauri command into a cheap cached path and an explicit forced re-discovery path. The profiling flight-recorder identified `discover_acp_providers` as the acute UI-freeze correlate: a 20–65s probe pipeline (PATH re-fetch, CLI auth probes, process spawns) was running on routine renders like channel switches, because hot surfaces remounted the wrapping query and automatic staleness refetches re-ran the full pipeline. This is complementary to the idle auto-reload (#5588) and bounded-accumulator (#5596) work. ## Backend - Added a `force` parameter to `discover_acp_providers` / `discover_acp_runtimes_from`. The default (cheap) path serves cached availability and auth statuses with zero process spawns; `force: true` runs the full pipeline (cache clear, PATH re-fetch, CLI auth probes). - Added a single-flight coalescer (`forced_single_flight`) so concurrent forced runs share one probe instead of stacking. - Extracted the auth-status cache and `resolve_auth_statuses` into `discovery/auth_status_cache.rs`. ## Renderer - Raised `staleTime` to 30 min; forced refresh flows only through an explicit `fetchQuery` path (`refreshAcpRuntimes`), so automatic staleness refetches can never re-run probes. - Added `useAcpRuntimesQueryForced` for Settings and onboarding surfaces; connect/install/save/delete mutations force-refresh in `onSettled`. - Switched `SetupStep`, `HarnessCatalogDialog`, and `HarnessesSettingsPanel` to the forced hook. ## Structure The touched files were at or over the grandfathered 1000-line file-size ceiling, so the change is delivered as cohesive extractions rather than in-place growth: `forced_single_flight.rs`, `auth_status_cache.rs`, `discovery/tests/forced_discovery.rs`, `acpRuntimesQuery.ts`, and `tauriAcpDiscovery.ts`. Dependencies are one-directional (`hooks.ts` imports from `acpRuntimesQuery.ts` and re-exports the forced hook, so consumer imports are unchanged; no import cycle). ## Tests Added Rust tests pinning the cheap-vs-forced split: a probe is spawned only when forced, the cheap path reuses the cache, and auth status is `Unknown` before any probe runs. --------- Signed-off-by: Will Pfleger <pfleger.will@gmail.com> Co-authored-by: Duncan <dcfd242e557282d7a1e2cf2e6877522682f1e5c6156dc92ca7d90eaedd3b0f95@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

fix(desktop): make reconnect repair lossless (#6415)
## Summary - repair exact-channel reconnect gaps from a source-coupled 1,865-second floor (`900` seconds of relay future tolerance + `960` seconds of DB created-at floor + `5` seconds of fence margin) - page the existing authenticated `POST /query` bridge losslessly with `(until, before_id)`, including dense timestamp boundaries and an unbounded first page that does not trust the renderer clock - keep the restored live REQ unchanged while deduplicating live/repair overlap until both live EOSE and repair completion for the active connection generation ## Scope and behavior The wider repair applies only to live subscriptions containing the exact channel-event kind set and one `#h`. Profile, read-state, global, channel-less, and other subscription behavior is unchanged. Failed or stale repairs retain their pinned lower bound for the next reconnect. This intersects the replay path described in #3215, but does not claim to fix that issue. Desktop already has a bounded notification-side event-ID guard; this PR adds transport dispatch dedupe for the restored-live/repair overlap. Notification behavior should remain a focused regression check while this wider repair window rolls out. ## Testing - `cd desktop && pnpm typecheck` - `cd desktop && pnpm biome check src/shared/api/channelReconnectRepair.ts src/shared/api/relayClientSession.ts src/shared/api/relayClientShared.ts src/shared/api/relayClosedRecovery.ts src/shared/api/relayReconnectReplay.ts src/shared/api/relayReconnectReplay.test.mjs src/testing/e2eBridge.ts` - `cd desktop && node --test src/shared/api/relayReconnectReplay.test.mjs` (26 passed) - `cargo test --manifest-path desktop/src-tauri/Cargo.toml channel_reconnect_repair` (2 passed) - pre-push hooks passed at `743283439eb6be7969e19951cbb6720c5e493a04` --------- Signed-off-by: Wes <wesbillman@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Carl <32a2e2c9d428ee08902cab75d956da2c1d235a22d4766b0dd4138bf6e2e5db1d@buzz.block.builderlab.xyz> |

disabled users issue no workflow query. **desktop/src/features/channels/ui/ChannelWorkflowsSection.tsx** Render the channel workflow list and New workflow action without pushing the existing settings sheet past its file-size ceiling. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/ChannelCombobox.tsx** Adopt the final channel presentation, portalled scrolling, and one-shot create-flow opening behavior. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/CreateWorkflowDialog.tsx** Remove the superseded create-only dialog in favor of the unified workflow editor. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/WorkflowCard.tsx** Open workflow cards in the detail and run-history modal while preserving explicit edit and duplicate actions. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/WorkflowDetailDialog.tsx** Present workflow Trigger/Steps in the shared modal chrome, with top-chrome ingress to a responsive right-side run-history inspector and an explicit edit action. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/WorkflowDialog.tsx** Unify create, edit, and duplicate lifecycle handling with URL panes, generated-name synchronization, dirty-exit guards, stale-write preservation, and protected webhook-secret handoff. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/WorkflowFormBuilder.tsx** Build the responsive Form/YAML editor shell, stable step selection, insertion and removal behavior, and lossless canonical-YAML synchronization. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/WorkflowStepCard.tsx** Align workflow step controls and presentation with the final editor interaction model. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/WorkflowUnavailableDialog.tsx** Show a non-disclosing loading or unavailable state for missing and inaccessible workflow links, with retry and close actions. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/WorkflowWebhookSecretDialog.tsx** Obscure one-time webhook secrets by default and require explicit confirmation before any close or navigation discards them. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/WorkflowsScreen.tsx** Connect library state and workflow actions to the route-addressable editor. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/WorkflowsView.tsx** Restore the responsive workflow library, create tile, cards, loading states, and shared action menu. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/workflowEditorPane.test.mjs** Cover pane parsing, serialization, and stable step-ID reconciliation. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/workflowEditorPane.ts** Define explicit trigger and stable step pane URL state. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/workflowYamlDocument.ts** Read and update header fields independently of full form validation so incomplete steps cannot clear or disable the workflow title. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/workflowYamlDocument.test.mjs** Cover document-level workflow header reads and writes for incomplete definitions. **desktop/tests/e2e/workflow-title-stability.spec.ts** Verify generated, renamed, saved, and duplicated titles remain stable while moving between trigger and step panes. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/workflowFormTypes.test.mjs** Cover lossless Form/YAML round trips and actionable fallback for unsupported fields. **desktop/src/features/workflows/ui/workflowFormTypes.ts** Own canonical workflow YAML conversion while preserving supported trigger and step fields. **desktop/src/shared/ui/PortalledScrollArea.tsx** Provide bounded scrolling for popovers rendered outside their dialog container. **desktop/src/shared/ui/popover.tsx** Allow workflow popovers to use the shared portalled scroll container. **desktop/tests/e2e/channels.spec.ts** Cover disabled and enabled Workflows experiment states, including suppressed queries while disabled, placement beneath Canvas, channel workflow listing and opening, channel-preselected workflow creation, and direct return to the channel Workflows panel after close, discard, or cancel. **desktop/tests/e2e/workflows.spec.ts** Exercise library actions, deep links, create/edit/duplicate lifecycle, dirty exits, responsive editor behavior, YAML safety, stale updates, and one-shot channel selection. </details> ## Reproduction steps 1. Open **Workflows** and confirm the responsive card library, create tile, card action menu, and card-to-detail/run-history modal navigation. 2. Open `?view=create`; confirm the channel chooser opens once, the trigger inspector stays hidden until a channel is selected, and closing the chooser does not make it reopen after unrelated edits. 3. Create a workflow, switch between Form and YAML, add and remove steps, refresh a pane deep link, and confirm the selected trigger or stable step remains addressable. 4. Edit or duplicate a workflow, make an unsaved change, and confirm close, Escape, browser navigation, and route target changes require discard confirmation while pane-only navigation does not. 5. Enter unsupported YAML and confirm Form mode gives an actionable fallback without rewriting the definition; verify reaction triggers preserve and execute their filter. 6. Open a channel’s settings, select **Workflows** below **Canvas**, and open or create a workflow; confirm the shared modal stays over the channel, the channel URL does not change, New workflow preselects that channel, and closing or discarding returns directly to the channel’s **Workflows** panel. 7. In create, edit, and duplicate modes, move between the trigger and incomplete step panes and confirm the generated or edited title remains visible and editable. ## Screenshots Fresh captures from product head `c5c3abc91a71fe511d43e6cc9168b1626d0c217c`; the later review-guidance fix does not alter these pictured states. ### Workflow library and actions ### Workflow editor — wide ### Workflow editor — narrow inspector overlay ### Workflow editor — active channel overlay ## Review feedback addressed - Corrected Diff Posted condition guidance to use the executor-supported `str_contains(trigger_text, "deploy")` syntax and added a visible Playwright regression assertion. - Scoped direct workflow-detail navigation coverage to the stable `Edit workflow` dialog name, asserted the workflow title separately, and retained the trigger-node assertion. - Routed dirty channel-overlay Duplicate/Edit transitions through the existing discard confirmation, preserving the original YAML draft when the user keeps editing. - Made workflow deletion await relay success, remain non-dismissible while pending, and retain the confirmation/editor/draft with an actionable inline error on rejection. - Gated the channel-settings Workflows ingress and channel workflow query behind the `workflows` experiment, with defensive rendering if the flag changes while that view is active. - Matched the Reaction Added trigger to the prototype reaction picker, preserving native/custom/legacy values in canonical YAML and providing an explicit clear action. - Kept a channel’s Workflows panel mounted beneath channel-origin editors so clean close, dirty discard, and create cancel return directly to that panel without changing the channel URL. ## Verification Verified at exact pushed head `76ebba7b7ace1e13445744200da70ca9da231b7e`: - Push hooks passed: destination-org policy, branch-skew, differential file-size, Desktop checks, TypeScript typecheck, and **5,115/5,115** Desktop unit tests - Focused channel lifecycle E2E passed: dirty edit discard returns directly to the channel Workflows panel; create cancel does the same while preserving the channel URL and preselected channel - E2E production build, standalone TypeScript typecheck, and Biome checks on both touched files passed - Reaction-picker regression spec remains recorded at `dc28ffa98ec34b4e0656757fb2dd93e60a84674d`: **5/5 passed** (picker interaction, canonical YAML persistence/clear, legacy-value preservation, save/reopen round trip, narrow viewport containment) - Blox existing workflow E2E regression set at `dc28ffa98ec34b4e0656757fb2dd93e60a84674d`: **36/36 passed** - Earlier blocker and review regressions remain recorded at `3760c3d657a525f5af98e8d0f98bdd03999d8e61`: **5,114/5,114** Desktop unit tests and the dirty-overlay/deletion focused checks - Working tree clean; local branch, remote branch, and PR head all match the exact SHA above ### Related issue None found.
